so people have heard the whole album by later today, right? It would appear so, only select locations. I hope those who can attend from this board are able to provide feedback. The Listening Parties are going on all week, but unfortunately there are none in my general area.

I got to Music Millennium right at 6 and they held the "party" in the 2nd room of the store (away from the busier front). When I asked if this is where its at, the clerk said yea and turned it on. I was the only one there at the beginning. People started wandering in and about 10 people pre-ordered the album and they received the signed 7" on the spot tonight. I hung out near the front and chatted with the clerk as the LP played. When I was going tonight, I thought no way would I win the test pressing, but as I got there and saw there were only about 20 people filling out the raffle tix, i thought I had a better chance at it. A few people seemed to stuff the raffle box so I gave up hope of winning and just focused on the new record.
It won't disappoint. Yes, they are a few tracks with different arrangements that as fans we might not be used to, but its still a "Lanegan" album. Most of it has what you would expect from him. Deep black vanishing train sounds so great. There are a couple other burners just like it too.
As soon as it ended, they pulled a name from the box and I was glad to hear my name called. Will give fuller report later.

Sweet! I went to the listening party at Fingerprints in Long Beach, CA...only 20 or less heads showed up...the album is so sick!
...they had everone who was there for the listening sign up for a raffle then the 1st name drawn was the winner of the test pressing then they also had a total of 10 7inch autographed "Gravediggers Song" singles and I scored one...#124 out of 1000...nice!
...Bleeding Muddy Water and Gray Goes Black are the first standout tracks that I really dug.
L.A. at the Echoplex baby! ...the wait is on!
I hope you're all wearing helmets with the chin straps so that it doesn't make a mess all over when Lanegan blows your fucking minds!

OK, but what about Blues Funeral? ...the album as a whole is so eclectic and diverse...he keeps the QOTSA vibe alive more than ever with his studio and crew choice obviously...no brainer there. Solid go'ew old! ...and yet he explores ever deeper into the poetic and mature heavy beat driven orchestral numbers. The last song was the only questionable song for me but I'm sure it'll grow on me the same way "Come To Me" did. Blues Funeral defies all helmets so wear a good one bennyboy! ...with a nice reinforced triple stiched chin strap with the non-slip rubber grip...you'll be as cool as a polar bears toe nail's benny! I shit cha not! Try it...

I was so bummed I couldn't make it to the listening party to try and win a test press...I would either give my left testical or pay someone cash (make offer) if they are willing to part with their winning....
Please, oh please...

Yeah I found a couple of leaks too. I didn't partake of the forbidden fruit, though. The record will be on its way to my house soon and I want my firsten listen to be straight from the CD (while I check out the autographed vinyl and the CD booklet which hopefully will contain the lyrics or at least some beautiful artwork)

I went to a listening party tonight at Red Cat Records in Vancouver. It was great to hear the test pressing on vinyl on a proper system. On Tuesday, when I go to pick up my pre-order copy of the cd and the autographed 7 inch, they will announce who won the test pressing. I'm crossing my fingers that I win... There were only six people who entered into the draw, so I have a one in six chance of winning. Those are fairly good odds. They told me that there were only 5 of the test records made, but that must be just for Canada.
