First of all, thanks to everyone who has helped out with suggestions and especially nominations for this! The results for the shortlists below were surprising and very eclectic, and it has been harder work than I thought to trim some of these down...
Anyway, each poll will have multiple votes allowed depending on size of the poll involved - this will at the top of each thread. The poll progress will remain a secret until they are closed on August 25 (1900 British Summer Time), but I'll also be locking this board at the same time so you'll then have to wait another day until I make the results public.
ALL VOTES CAN BE RETRACTED and re-cast at any time before they close, as mind-changes are inevitable 
And in order to keep this bit as clutter-free as possible while everything's running, existing threads can be added to (which can only be encouraged by us) but new threads can only be put here by staff.
You will also notice the "Ask the Soulsavers" thread. The pun was wholly unintentional, but sadly it was the first thing that popped into my head and it stuck.
I just want to say a huge thankyou to Rich for agreeing to do this! How well that bit works is wholly up to you guys...
And of course, mountains of gratitude to Raeni, who set this board up on August 26 2004 after the official one closed down, and who has kept us going and together for five years, especially during those times when it might have just been easier to delete us Thankyou!

I am embarrassed to say i have not helped foz get this whole thing organised in any way  Foz darlin i am sorry...
Thanks to Raeni for keeping this place up when a very small number of dickheads gave her enough reason to be done with it.
Thanks to foz for doing all the really hard work.
Thanks to m0ng0 for sharing all the kills with me 
And thanks to a really great group of regular posters that make this what it is. I've made some really good friends here and now that my world has been tumbling down around me, they have been very supportive and have kept me on my feet in different ways. Thanks you lot - you know who you are

Nice to see all the whining was worth while! 
Do ya think there would be any demand for a 5th Anniversary tshirt design? Or should I go right to Raeni with that? I thought of it because I'm in tshirt design mode, working on one for a family event.

maybe it's an idea to do a poll for ideas for anniversary t-shirts
Anyway, yes, this place has been wonderful. I think we should all get drunk on august the 25th together. Starting from the first moment it starts to be the 25th anywhere on earth till the last moment.

And yes - I was a bit arbitrary with the votes per poll thing. Can't change it now so we're stuck with it, although in my defence they all made sense when I was doing them.

Thanks Foz for unlocking this thing up! Now, what have you people been listening to? I agree "skeletal" should be up there but why isn't "borracho" right up there too, and what about "whiskey"? we all know is the best record jeeeez
