Hi everyone, I'm a long time reader of this board, 1st time posting. Greg and Mark started their tour here in São Paulo yesterday and I wanted to share some stuff. The Setlist: The Body God's Children/(All Along the Watchtower) The Stations If I Were Going Sworn and Broken Down The Line We Have Met Before Creeping Coastline of Lights Ressurection Song The Twilite Kid King Only Sunrise Summer's Kiss River Rise Sunset Machine I Am In The Heavenly Way _______________ What Jail Is Like Dollar Bill Three Hours pic of the setlist (unfortunately they didn't play every song) Is it the first time they played Dolar Bill? I don't remember seeing that song on other setlists Here's some pictures my friend took: www.flickr.com/photos/14700203@N03I'm terrible at writing reviews, so I don't have much to say. It was my first time seeing Lanegan. Something I never thought would happen considering where I live. So from my biased point of view, the show was near perfect. The only problem is that it was maybe a bit too short, and too much Dulli at times (who didn't talk much, but learned how to say Thank You and Good Evening in portuguese). Anyway, the venue where they played is super tiny, making the event very intimate, I got great seats, couldn't have asked for a better experience. After the show, as we were almost leaving, Greg and Mark came back to the stage and started distributing autographs, which was very nice of them (I got my Mark autograph!). They were both in great spirits last night. and finally, something you don't see every day ;-)

Anybody knows about "If I were going" "Martin Eden" And "King only"? As in "what are they?" I presume - first one is an Afghan Whigs song, other two are Twilight Singers songs.

Martin Eden?!? What Jail Is Like?!!!? I was hoping for more changes in the setlist but if they play these two in London, I'll go home very happy. Btw, what's Disappearing? Is that a Lanegan song or a new one?

I hope they have a "cameraman" with them for these dates in south america, they should release a dvd with a mix of footage from the tour with the band and the acoustic tour.... jesus christ they are signed to subpop!! I did see a cameraman yesterday, so they were definitely filming. Fingers crossed for some kinda of dvd release in the future. Here's some pro pics from last night: musica.uol.com.br/album/gutter-twins_album.jhtm

Btw, what's Disappearing? Is that a Lanegan song or a new one? If it's the one I think it is, it's a Screaming Trees track from Uncle Anesthesia.

Lovely pic, pjfreak. What a great smile. Gives me the warm fuzzies.
And I'd recommend checking out Greg's music to anyone not familiar with it. He's an amazing songwriter, and it's my opinion his more recent stuff (i.e. Twilight Singers, among other projects) is better than his previous work with the Afghan Whigs. I only recently got into his music after becoming fascinated with his contributions to the Gutter Twins project, and am blown away by the intelligence, passion, and darkness of his music. I find it different, but quite complementary, to Mark's music.

You know what song would really lend itself to the format and the spirit of the Gutter Twins?
Woe. (Woaaaah-oh-oh-ohhhh...)

Uncle Anesthesia was my first Trees album. Still my favourite, also...by far.

that photo of the setlist makes my head explode. even the stuff that wasnty played.. it's obviously been rehearsed and is a possibility for other shows.
Dollar Bill? What Jail Is Like? Disappearing? Martin Eden? Sworn and Broken? Three Hours?
oh my.
I'm guessing Monsieur Dulli's head is exploding as well - with rage at the fact that people are so interested in what he's doing that they have already seen the setlist.. and there are few surprises in the world anymore...
love you dude. but chill out.

INTERVIEW with Lanegan on "SUPLEMENTO SI"
I am driving by a steep and it's hot. ¡Los Angeles, baby! ". A voice on the phone and Mark Lanegan, former Screaming Trees leader from the era of flannel shirts, which, although never reached the fame of Nirvana or Pearl Jam, was so important to the iconography as grunge Charles Peterson's pictures and comics by Peter Bagge. His album Sweet Oblivion brought to MTV and relations within the band fell apart that made them part of "Divorced Club Bands" When all was over, Lanegan was devoted to his girlfriend his dog and make solo albums chasing the ghosts of Johnny Cash and Kurt Cobain of his friends and Jeffrey Lee Pierce. Also collaborated with musicians as diametrically opposed Queens of the Stone Age or Isobell Campbell, lead singer of Belle & Sebastian.
Now he is dedicated to The Gutter Twins, along with Greg Dulli (of The Twilight Singers and The Afghan Whigs). The project will come to La trastienda next Tuesday July 7.
- When did you get tired of playing loud all the time?
I do not know when really. but that was the reason I started to make music as a soloist. It was a way of putting something calmer. Now I do two things with the Gutter Twins, quiet and loud music. The show is an acoustic one but it's not gonna be so quiet. And we will make songs of Screaming Trees and Greg's bands.
- Do you feel a survivor of the'90s?
-I do not remember who said, "or you make it till 44 (yrs old) or not ." I feel fortunate to be among the first group, considering the option About that time, many things are said incorrectly for example, never met any member's band saying we play "grunge music." And I was able to meet a lot of musicians!
- How do you maintain a deep voice without destroying it?
I do not know, I just wake up every day and it is there. probably I do everything wrong in order to keep it but still there when I wake up the next day.
After so many years of career. are you still living in the same way the classic trilogy of sex, drugs and rock & roll?
"Everything is still there. Although I suppose that now is only rock and roll.
- How were the collaborations with Queens of the Stone Age and Isobell Cambell?
-Working with Isobell was excellent because I am a big fan of Belle & Sebastian. She gave my songs to record company. Very flattering. And singing with Queens of the Stone Age was something incredible, because I went on tour with my best friends. I do not have the natural need to take center spot and be on tour with them was great
