Wanna see the video I took of the opening song from AIC's Toronto show? I held the camera with my right hand & when they started playing Them Bones, I held my head with my left hand lol

Thanks for sharing. I loved the blue with green lighting. I bought a flip cam, but I didn't feel like being responsible for it at the venue.

They did have excellent lighting...love the green & blue! I got searched more thoroughly at this concert than I did when we flew to England recently! They questioned me about the camera & worried about my back up battery....thought it was a super lens of some kind lol But they let me bring it in....thank gawd cuz Deftones were already on & I was missing it!

hey hey, this should give all the haters something to fling p00 at !
Seattle grunge legends ALICE IN CHAINS have commenced work on the follow-up to 2009's gold-certified album "Black Gives Way To Blue" (Virgin/EMI), according to longtime friend Ann Wilson of HEART.
In a conversation yesterday with Ultimate Classic Rock, Wilson mentioned that she had visited ALICE IN CHAINS this weekend at the recording studio where they're working on their new album, which currently does not have a title and is reportedly set for release in early 2012.
Wilson said that the band sounds "amazing" on the new material and enthused about guitarist Jerry Cantrell and the band, stating, "How can Jerry not sound amazing, but I mean, it really does — they're a monster."
"Black Gives Way To Blue" was the first all-new ALICE IN CHAINS album since 1995 and the first to feature singer/guitarist William DuVall. DuVall told The Pulse Of Radio last year that he expects the band to take a lot less time to make a follow-up. "You don't come this far and do all this work just to then stop for (laughs), for another 15 years or, you know, stop forever or whatever," he said. "We are on a path, and just as it was in the beginning, we still don't know where it's gonna lead. But we're digging what we're doing and we're very happy with the reception that we've gotten."
ALICE IN CHAINS began touring again in 2006 and DuVall officially became a member of the band before recording began on "Black Gives Way To Blue".
ALICE IN CHAINS (guitarist/vocalist Jerry Cantrell, guitarist/vocalist William DuVall, drummer Sean Kinney and bassist Mike Inez) spent 2010 performing a string of sold-out headlining tours around the world in support of "Black Gives Way To Blue". Fueled by lead single "Check My Brain", which rocketed to No. 1 on the Billboard Rock Songs Chart, "Black Gives Way To Blue" entered Billboard's Top 200 at No. 5. They maintained momentum with follow-up hit "Your Decision", which also shot straight to No. 1.
ALICE IN CHAINS currently has two shows scheduled in August, including an appearance at the third annual MTS Rock On The Range Canada on Saturday, August 20 in Winnipeg, Manitoba.

Alice In Chains died with Layne. I'm all for Jerry, Mike and Sean getting back together and making records but they should've changed the name or at the very least tried to find a singer who has a voice of his own. That dudes just trying to sound like Layne did and it bugs me. It comes off like Godsmack and all those other bullshit, clone, copycat bands. Even coming back as a 3 piece with Jerry singing would have been a better idea.

Personally, I always figured they hired a sound-alike and kept the old name for the recognition factor, the better to make money off the reunion. So I pretty much ignore them.

I'm sorry if I offended you Imaginary Beer, it was not my intention. Growing up, Alice In Chains were one of my favourite bands, I fucking loved them. Those albums were and still are amazing! I loved the music but it was always Laynes voice that did it for me, thats what made them special. Nobody else sounded like he did. It's the exact same thing with Mark. He's the greatest songwriter in the world in my opinion, but its that voice...nobody sounds like Lanegan. He's the one and only. The human voice is the only musical instrument that's 100% unique, 100% original. So many singers today try so hard to sound like somebody else that they lose themselves along the way. Sorry.

oh I am not offended, you are entitled to your opinion, but on the flipside why do the guys who have invested over half of their life into something be forced to fold up there tents and start over because Layne could not keep his life together?
Black gives way to Blue is quite good actually, but in order to enjoy it you have to put your faith in the band and stop living in the past, of course there are going to be similarities in the sound of his voice as he has to perform the back catalog live, so thats no easy task to step into the shoes of a legend but he does the songs justice, thats all we can ask.
But really if people dont like it? so what? its not made for you its made for them by them.

Ah...the age old Alice debate.... You either continue to be an Alice fan or you don't. Regardless, Alice is alive and well--recording a new album, so they absolutely did not die with Layne.
William was chosen because he and his band Comes with the Fall toured with Jerry during the Degradation tour, not because he sounds just like Layne. William had enormous shoes to fill, and he will never live that down. He and the rest of the band had death threats because after 5 years they were ready to move on. I respect them all for staying the course an enduring that shit and especially William for staying true to who he is as a person. He is an accomplished musician in his own right, with an interesting Punk past. His vocals and guitar work add an entirely new element to the band. His dynamic stage presence during the live shows is incredible. The early reports I have heard on the new material state that William will play a larger role vocally than he did on BGWTB and that his prog rock song-writing style will become more evident.
Layne's entire family supports the new album. I was lucky enough to meet Layne's father at the Vegas Alice show last October. So the people who matter most have embraced the idea and moved on.
Sean said it best, "It's our name, and we are keeping it, so fuck off."

Fair enough. I will change my comment to "that chapter of Alice In Chains died with Layne". In fact, I don't think Layne wanted anything to do with Alice In Chains long before he died anyways. I'm glad they continued to make music for you guys to enjoy, thats what its all about right? Yes.

I am not sure Layne wanted anything to do with anything before he died, he died a 130lb toothless junkie, not exactly the image for the cover of Kerrang is it?
