Was that released? That "Experiments..." was available as a download from his site, way back when.

Don't think so, but you never know with him! It's something that I kept meaning to ask, but never got round to...

Two videos I took at the Mercury Lounge show last Monday.
Sorry for the poor quality, especially of Sleepwalking. It's a shame since during it Jeff went into the audience and was singing to people from there for almost the entire song. Loved it.

Whereas this one is just plain weird: Jeff solo doing the 33 version of Between Space. And hold your bloody phone the right way round!

Ah lovely, a new song. A lovely new song. Well, technically an old song, but new to us: Well over a year ago we were asked to write and record a holiday song for a compilation. We wrote and recorded 2 in an afternoon at our rehearsal space. That compilation never saw the light of day. We posted one last year and this year stumbled onto the other one. So here they are for your free, wintery downloading. They're a scrappy, imperfect audio Polaroid of a long October afternoon with too much whiskey and too many sleigh bells hangin around. downloads.thisismyjerusalem.com/track/wintercoast-w-dana-falconberry

This is from a review of My Jerusalem's show in Tucson on Dec 18th - I think it describes them pretty well - especially Jeff!: Coming from Austin, Texas, a hotbed for roots-rock, My Jerusalem pretty much shattered all preconceived notions of its meaning. They stretched their roots back to their very name, playing fire-and-brimstone noise that was loud, raggedy and elegant. It was refreshing to hear a current indie band that didn't play garage/psychedelic rock, new wave or '90s tribute music. Instead, My Jerusalem fashioned a distinctive sound from threads of Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds and PJ Harvey, among similar artists who put a stately spin on blues, distorted through a post-punk lens.
The songs were stellar, and singer Jeff Klein's booming baritone, simultaneously frightening and inviting, anchored the band, which included a multi-instrumentalist who impressively pulled off the feat of playing trumpet, trombone, synthesizer and electric guitar in the space of one song. Throughout the set, they displayed a sense of dignified restraint that put My Jerusalem into the league of a truly great band.

Some new live footage:
I had a quick back and forth with someone from My Jerusalem on Facebook, asking if they had considered releasing bootlegs a la Lanegan, or maybe a live dvd. They said, "We are open to the idea for sure. We have a few show recordings already. So possibly in the near future. " Which would be lovely.

They said, "We are open to the idea for sure. We have a few show recordings already. So possibly in the near future. " Which would be lovely. That would be fantastic! A live DVD - I had caught the above videos today, too - wonderful - I think they're getting better, if possible - the whole band seems to be relaxing and enjoying themselves more. My favorite thing to do with my player is still "All Jeff Klein" and just let it go - I find something new and amazing every time I listen to his songs.

So, a very happy day - I finally found "Put Your Weight On It" for under $69!! I've been watching it on Amazon and it went down to $48 today so I grabbed it - I've wanted it for a long time - please don't tell me I'll regret it But then, I've never regretted anything of Jeff Klein's that I've purchased so far. I've also come to the conclusion that "Graveyard" is my favorite album and that the second "I'm Holding In The World" (with the thunder) is the best song ever recorded by Klein.

I tried buying a copy of Put Your Weight On It a while back, but my card wasn't accepted. As far as I know it's different from Jeff's usual stuff, and it's not what he wanted it to sound like. Let us know how it is when you get a listen!

I got it today!! As you can imagine, I immediately popped it into the player in my car at the post office - and whammo! Calypso beats - startling, yes! I will write a review of what I think about the whole album (although it's only 6 songs) tomorrow - I'm putting it on my player now, so that I can listen to it as I go to sleep tonight. There's just something about Jeff Klein's voice. . . . . . .

Here it is:
PUT YOUR WEIGHT ON IT
Trace - 5 Good Reasons - Who’s Up? - Anything You Want - Cast No Stone - Demons Be Gone
Of course, “5 Good Reasons” and “Demons Be Gone” have both been redone on ‘Everybody Loves A Winner’ and ‘Graveyard’ respectively – I wouldn't say that either one of these is the lesser recording of the song – just a different style, although I think I do like this Demons better – it’s just Jeff and his guitar, which I always love. The 4 remaining songs, though totally new to me, still bear traces of other Klein songs - it’s really great to be able to hear how his talent has progressed – even on this early effort, he has his own sound that’s unmistakably Jeff Klein. The first song, “Trace,” starts out with a Calypso beat (?!) – “I’ll be out covering my tracks . . . and any trace of you” - I’d like to hear him re-do this one now – maybe without so much background – none of Jeff’s songs needs to be over-produced. “Who’s Up” is a “Kiss and Tell” type of song – makes you horny just to listen to it (!) and he doesn't even say anything naughty – well, except for the opening line – “Wake up – we've got work to do and my mouth is dripping with anticipation” - just that voice – and how he makes it sound gruff and low and needy and just downright sexy! “Anything You Want” is the romantic love song of the album – an easy-listening song with a very nice beat – this is another one that I hope he’ll revisit someday – it’s a beautiful song. “Cast No Stone” is pure Jeff Klein – with his voice going everywhere and invoking emotions with every line. “Your face - it left so long ago I don’t know which way I could turn around to you now.” “Giving in to all my sinful thoughts would be so easy. . .“ “That’s what people like me do . . . that’s what people seem to think. . “ No, I don’t regret buying this one.

I wonder if they're ever going to release that Mono single. In the meantime, well, we know they're no strangers to odd remixes: official.fm/tracks/Qx84
