Great thread!
I got into the Screaming Trees in 1991. I saw them at least four times between 92 and 94 and loved the Uncle Anesthesia record. I didn't get the ones after Sweet Oblivion until QOTSA rekindled my interest in Mark's wonderful voice. I bought some of the other Screaming Trees records I didn't have before, plus I'll Take Care of You. I fell in love with that one, specifically with his cover of "Carry Home". And that led me to his earlier solo records. Haven't looked back since!
It dawned on me one day about six or seven years ago that I listen to Mark more than anyone else, yet he didn't come right to mind when asked who my favorite artist was. It was like a revelation! There's no one else like him. Period.

i always liked that second vocalist of Mad Season but always figured he was just some sort of backup singer and never looked into it much deeper. Got the singles soundtrack in 2002 or 2003 because of the Pearl Jam songs and realized the dude singing on Nearly Lost You is the same guy as the other vocalist with Mad Season. forgot about it. Then in 2007 i got more into exploring different types of music and stumble upon Soulsavers. Revival blew, and still blows my mind. yet again i find out it's Lanegan. so Revival i guess is the song that hooked me. I've been backtracking everything he's ever done since then and got into pretty much anything he's involved with big time.

I taped this show on BBC2 one night in 92/93 called No Nirvana - a special show comp of "grunge"bands except, yep you guessed it... Screaming Trees was on with Dollar Bill, never heard the song before, never really knew much of the band. It was one of the most beautiful song i had heard, but i gotta say it was that voice that got me hooked i just needed more, and so it goes on 20 years later. Its my 1st message of 2013 i know its a bit late but i hope everyone has a happy new year !

I first heard Mark sing on a QOTSA album, I thought he has an amazing voice. I was watching an interview with QOTSA on MTV2 and they played a clip of Hit the city. That was all I'd heard of Mark until a couple of years ago I got the internet and looked him up. Don't think I can remember a particular song that got me hooked but Here comes that weird chill EP blew me away.

Most definitely Carnival. I found out about Mark through Piero Scaruffi's website, a true goldmine for all music lovers, even if his opinions are sometimes hard to agree with. So I gave a few listens to Whiskey and I fell in love with Carnival, then, slowly, with all the other songs.

I first heard Mark on Songs For The Deaf in 2005 (I'm always a bit late to discover bands and albums as you can see). Loved his voice but haven't bothered to discover his solo work until the next year, when I heard One Way Street. I was totally in it, asked for Field Songs for my Christmas, the other songs on it did the rest, especially Miracle and Don't Forget Me.

I had never heard of Mark until I saw the Gutter Twins on Jools Holland, was totally mesmorised by this large, frowning tattooed man clutching the mike sounding awesome, think it was Idle Hands, bought that album and then someone told me he was formally in QOTSA (heard of but not listened to really) Screaming Trees (never heard of) so I started my exploration of his back catologue, have pretty much everything now - fav solo album probably Here comes that Weird Chill

I was a huge fan of pretty much anything that came out of Seattle in the early 90's, so was in to the Trees, Mad Season etc, and even had a copy of Whiskey for the Holy Ghost, although never really got off on it. Then I bought Bubblegum when it was released and saw him playing in Brisbane in 2004 on that tour. Loved that record, but didn't really pay much attention until early last year when I heard he was back with a new record and a tour. The instant I heard The Gravediggers Song I was hooked. What an album. What a live show. But none of those songs hooked me like No Easy Action has. That song is now my favourite of all time, live acoustic or the studio version I just love it. That's the song that has really hooked me, and I can't believe I didn't notice it till mid 2012 when I thought, I'd better get Field Songs, seeing as everyone talks about it and I had a ticket to see him re-open the Ding Dong lounge in Melbourne last July, when I knew he'd be playing a few songs off that album live. Now my Mrs is hooked as well. Mind you, she had no choice really!
