Doesn't this seem like a scam? Horrible spelling/grammar, fuzzy images, won't reply to emails for June/July? This scares me.

I haven't purchased anything cause I def had some concerns. Hard to turn down, but yeah $50 is a bit much right now. Would love to have those rarities though...

I'd love to have those rarities as well. I'll put $11 up. If four more people want to put up $11 each, we can see what happens. I don't care who gets the CDs themselves, as long as I get the files...
And if it turns out to be a scam, I can take losing $11 a lot better than losing $55.

And if it turns out to be a scam, I can take losing $11 a lot better than losing $55. My 2 cents: my initial reaction? f'in sweet. then denial, then after seeing that the files, based on the samples,at least are legitimate ANGER mixed with despair Mostly anger. Not to toot my own horn, but I traded and collected Screaming Trees memoribilia / boots / b-sides for almost 20 years and was never able to nab the mythic "lost double album". I even almost got it directly from Donna Dresch, who sadly lost this and told me at the time (2003ish) that as far as she knew ML now had the only copy. So if I had come across this, you all wouldn't be at a quandry about this being a scam, because I would have freely traded / emailed it to alot of people by now. And this is a scam, mark my words. The seller is using all the classic signs on eBay that you'll be getting nothing: pay in advance, and expect delivery in 3-4 weeks but don't email me for a couple weeks, we're busy. That's what the 2 sellers who I "bought" the Shadow of the Season video from had to say too. Now I despair, not for anyone who might get suckered in but that aside from doing a few youtube to mp3 rips, we'll have to wait quite a bit longer to hear all of this, until whoever this guy is has his Grinch heart swell 4 sizes and distributes this set on a site for download / torrent. Which, of course I would have been willing to pay $50 for to begin with, but FU with your limited edition set, burned for us in the comfort of your home. I held onto the ML '91 demos for 7 years before meeting Debbi on the AOL, and even then I sweated about giving it out. This seller has held onto these tapes for over 20 years and I've heard of the lost album, but all of those non album songs and the Gary Lee demo reel is news to me as of yesterday. A shame and I despair, because it's only a matter of time before this set gets a proper Facebook promotion, which not surprising the seller isn't interested in such publicity. Matter of fact, I feel like I will promote this great box set / site to the official Trees facebook, and Van, and Mark's L & P and Barrett. Do you think this guy will honor any of his sales once his site is taken down? I know this may not be the most popular opinion on this, but I'd rather wait and not let this one hoarder profit Christopher

I agree that this seems sketchy and I hesitate to send my money.
The guy does have the goods, though. You can hear a lot of it on the "what's in the box" page.
I would love to be able to have all of these recordings, but this is not the right way to do it.

I know this may not be the most popular opinion on this, but I'd rather wait and not let this one hoarder profit Christopher I hear what you're saying, but I think the possibility of obtaining these discs, or files, or whatever, is more than enough reason to take a risk on buying one between five people. I agree with your opinion actually, BUT what if this is real? I'm telling you right now, and I'm sure most here feel the same way; this is not benefitting Mark or the band in any way. Once someone has these files, they will be shared. I will come back here and share the hell out of this set. This guy isn't getting rich off of this. Even if he does sell them all, what does he stand to make? $2500? We have a phrase for what kind of rich that is, but I'd rather not post that here. In the end, no matter how strongly you oppose this practice, getting to those files will (and should) trump those feelings.

My two cents, the files posted on the site seem legit, $50 is not too bad for 5 discs, I'm taking the chance on it. And yes, liberation will follow.

This guy isn't getting rich off of this. Even if he does sell them all, what does he stand to make? $2500? . 500 x $50 = $25,000. Plus whatever is added for P&P presumably. Or 5,000,000 Spotify plays, which seems to be the usual comparison when discussing artist payments nowadays If it's 'legit' though, the guy's not really radiating confidence - sitting on stuff for years (as has been said above, presumably the only person with it), it's a bit odd that he's decided to sell and that he's done do without putting anything together other than cg mockups of badly-spelt packaging. Which is almost as odd as spamming the Internet for days and not entering any conversation with prospective buyers, which just makes him look like a scammer, whether that's the case or no.

I think I gotta order this. I'd rather see something like this get released by the trees themselves (kinda like last words) but I do plan on purchasing all future releases by the trees...50 bucks isn't too big of a gamble.

Yeah my math skills aren't what they used to be. But that still isn't getting him rich. Speaking of, it's great that there are so many wealthy posters here. I didn't realize I was a peasant in the presence of princes. I guess I'll just let you people order them first and hear your reports if it's a scam or no.

kind of surprised everyone freaks out when an album leaks and people talk about it, but this guy is selling an Unauthorized box set and people are only worried about it being suspicious. hmmmmm.. so your saying if someone tried to sell an unauthorized bootleg of all the unreleased songs on Has God Seen My Shadow compilation next week, you'd be down to buy? had an alternate theory regarding the age of the songs. Anyone remember "Bitter Dregs"? Van mentioned on his Strange World store site that he was going to have a rarities collection for Screaming Trees in the future, and when I first saw this thread originally I thought to that. If this set had Strange and One Way Conversation I'd be sold because that I've seen other artists b-sides etc get found randomly and luckily when someone leaves their entire computer's contents available to view publicly on the web someone could download any or all mp3's or anything that is public Toally conjecture on my part, but it's another possibility outside of this guy being in the Trees innner circle forever and just now going for the cash grab Still waiting to hear back from Van

I saw this on ebay but decided to pass.
It will cost upwards of £35 to get that to the UK and I expect UK customs will slap a charge of about £15 on top (£8 to open the parcel, and the rest of duty).
If I could get it in the UK without those customs charges I'd pay, but think they will be gone before then. This is a glorified bootleg anyway, isn't it?
