Dave Rosser has played many shows with Mark, as well as with Afghan Whigs and other bands. For those who didn't see this on the Afghan Whigs FaceBook: Your attention please. It is with a heavy heart that The Afghan Whigs are announcing two special performances of their classic album Black Love in its entirety in New Orleans and Los Angeles along with performances from Mark Lanegan, Ani DiFranco, Morning 40 Federation, King James & The Special Men C.C. Adcock & The Lafayette Marquis, Moby and Carina Round. Long-time The Afghan Whigs, The Gutter Twins and The Twilight Singers guitarist Dave Rosser was recently diagnosed with inoperable colon cancer. “Dave Rosser has been my close friend and bandmate for over a decade now,” Greg Dulli commented. “By doing these shows for him we hope to ease any financial stress he may face as he pursues treatment to combat his illness. 100% of the proceeds from these shows will go to his medical care. I’m hopeful that folks will come out and show their support for Dave who will be performing with us.” The New Orleans show will take place at The Civic Theatre on Saturday December 10th and feature performances from: The Afghan Whigs, Mark Lanegan, Ani DiFranco, Morning 40 Federation, King James & The Special Men, and C.C. Adcock & The Lafayette Marquis along with special guests. The Los Angeles show will take place on December 14th at The Teragram Ballroom featuring sets from: The Afghan Whigs, Mark Lanegan, Moby and Carina Round. Tickets for both shows will go on sale this Friday November 4th. For fans who cannot attend either show, we encourage you to donate to Dave Rosser On Guitar medical fund here: www.gofundme.com/daverosserAlso follow Viva La Rosser for more events. Tickets purchased for air and hotel, concert tickets on sale Friday. Hopefully Mark will have a band for the show, instead of acoustic. Dave Rosser is the nicest man in the music business and I hope these shows sell out ASAP.

they did go on sale, but not until like 10:20 or so. I don't know why, but it was pissing me off because I couldn't tell if I couldn't connect or if it was ticketmaster.

Any feedback from these shows? Just the odd thing here and there on my Facebook etc but nothing substantial. The shows were absolutely awesome and great fun. Only one complaint - there was NO Lanegan solo set at all in California. I believe he did do a solo set in New Orleans, and the way he was listed in CA made it seem as though he would there as well. But when they posted set times, it was Carina Round, Moby, then Afghan Whigs & Mark Lanegan. As it turned out, he sang The Lonely Night with Moby, which was amazing, then he joined Afghan Whigs for Night by Candlelight, and that was it for the second night. First night, Gutter Twins was really fun with GT and Twilight Singers songs, and a Guns 'n Roses cover with Duff McKagan. Duff played guitar for the Gutter Twins, but switched to bass for that song. Josh Homme was great to see and was being terribly funny all night. I think he spent almost less time playing than he did talking, but it was all good. Eagles of Death Metal were good, and played a cover of Moonage Daydream that was wild. Josh joined them on drums for the last song. Second night, Carina Round played first. She has a great voice and her songs were on the sad side, which is fine with me but she kept joking about how dark they were. Then it was Moby, who had a spectacular lady vocalist for most of the songs, but I didn't catch her name. He introduced Mark who came to the mic, they started the quiet music to dead silence, then Mark sang one line and everyone whooped because he sounded so damn good. After Mark sang his song with them and left the stage, Moby said, "Not to state the obvious, but that VOICE..." The Afghan Whigs were great. To be honest I never listened to them or paid attention to Greg Dulli until Mark sang on the Twilight Singers, but I found I really like Dulli and now go to see him when he plays, even though I don't own any Whigs albums. So for me it says a lot that I really loved this show, even though they played all the songs off a single album which I have never heard! Got to hang out with the 'onewhiskey' equivalent of the Whigs fans, and they all seemed like very cool people and were fun to hang with. After the last show, someone handed out printed letters which we held up that spelled out 'Viva La Rosser', which was cool. Through both shows all the performers spoke a little about Dave and seemed genuinely grateful for all the fan support for both the shows and the fund. All proceeds from merch sold at the shows went to Dave, too. If you want to donate you can do so at www.gofundme.com/daverosserHere is the Moby song: www.youtube.com/watch?v=Zwa-w6s9HF8

Mark did do a solo set in NOLA with Jeff Fielder and Duke Garwood, if you saw the acoustic tour it was very similar. Set list:
The Cherry Tree Carol One Way Street Mirrored Strange Religion One Hundred Days Creeping Coastline Carry Home
I think there was one other song, sorry it was a week ago. 30 minute set, Mark did duet Night By Candlelight during the Whigs Black Love set. It was fantastic.

I was at the NOLA show and it was a lot of fun! I'm attaching a picture of Mark's setlist, which I got, and a couple pictures I took at the show. There were six bands playing that night and each one of them was different and great. I was excited that Mark played War Memorial as I had never had a chance to hear him perform any of his songs from the Duke Garwood album and was also excited about the Christmas song. Mark said some really nice things about Dave Rosser, as did everyone who played. Mark also came out and sang on the Afghan Whigs' song Night by Candlelight with Greg Dulli and it was amazing! I'm a huge fan of both Lanegan and Dulli but had never gotten to see them play together before so it was a big deal for me. I was also excited about Ani DiFranco, as I'd never gotten a chance to see her before and am a fan of her albums, and she was a lot of fun too! So glad I got to be a part of this wonderful evening.

That's heartbreaking. He was such a gentleman, a friend was talking to him in Galway years ago (I didn't have the guts to go up to him) and was completely charmed by him. A wonderful musician, artist and no doubt person. RIP.

This is so sad to hear. Whenever I go to see a concert, I remember the first one I've ever been to - The Gutter Twins. I mostly went, because I knew Mark - but I was blown away by the whole performance of all these other musicians that I didn't know until then - Dave amongst those. A brilliant and passionate musician. Two years later I spoke to him for like a few seconds after a show and he seemed like a very nice and down-to-earth guy. Sad to see another person going at a way too young age. Rest in Peace, Dave.

FUCK! FUCK! FUCK! That has just hit me like a smack in the fucking face, I just can't believe this!!!!! I was lucky enough to spend about 15 mins or so chatting outside Brudenell car park. I just remember forgetting what he did and who he was(if that makes any sense)Such a genuine, humble and down to earth guy, what a lovely man. RIPDaveRosser

Sad news indeed, RIP Dave. So many greats going way too soon.
Quick question that I should know the answer to already. Did Dave play guitar on Mark's acoustic tours in 2010? Specifically I'm thinking of the Union Chapel Night Porter show. That could very well be one of my top 3 live recordings of all time (I'm talking all bands, not just Mark).

That is shit news.
So it was Dave that was the guitarist on those "acoustic" tours? I really enjoyed those gigs I saw in Glasgow (Oran Mor) and Edinburgh (Liquid Rooms). I think there might even have been another one somewhere I saw.
RIP - far too young.
