The "love gun" song covered by the Grinderman is not a porn soundtrack!!! It's an old AC/DC cover!!! Cave man deside to pay a tribute to his Assie mates! He also farts in the middle of the solo... or was that his hows? If you want to check the album you can d/l it on this forum: forum.funkysouls.com/index.php?act=ST&f=33&t=59860&s=

Love Gun is a Kiss song and album. Big Gun is an AC/DC song (at least I cannot find anything from AC/DC that is close to that).

Someone told me all of the instruments played on the Grinderman album were first used to violate Angus Young so to hopefully steal some of his magical powers. I tend to believe him.

BEN SHEPHERD he was the bass player in Soundgarden, he's friends with Mark. He did quite a bit of work with him on Field Songs and he toured with him. Anyway, he mentioned a little while ago that he and Mark recorded about 12 songs together and he called it "gunfighting music". these songs will see the light of the day ?

But mostly though it's because of what Lanegan looks and sounds like. In interviews (when he talks at all) he talks in an amused, world-weary drawl somewhere between the patronising and the threatening. On record he bridges the gap between the cerebral and the visceral. At times (particularly when he's to be heard over an acoustic twang) he sounds full of considered loss and longing. Elsewhere, when a firestorm of guitars drag his voice to a scream, he sounds bloodied, deranged but always, somehow, monumentally dignified. Looks wise Lanegan seems to have stepped out from a yellowing Victorian picture of gunfighters. He looks like a force of nature. www.timeforlight.com/articles_mm992.html

Pizzle, why are you so excited about the gunfighting music? On the new album thread, you said something about:
"...............stupid psuedo spaghetti western bullshit"
To me, gunfighting music might well mean something along those lines. Either that, or Marty Robbinsesque "El Paso" and "Streets of Laredo" style tunes.
Personally, I like stupid psuedo spaghetti western bullshit, so I'll be very happy with it. But given your distaste for twangy Morricone sounds it might not be your shot of tequila...

the key there was pseudo, I love morricone and spaghetti western music and I love marty robins so if its anything like that I will be most happy, when I said pseudo country western spaghetti bullshit that was a direct jab against ballad of the broken seas which I found to be a chemistry lacking boring sham of an album that had absolutely no redeeming qualities except as a sleep inducer. Also I trust the group of people around this album as opposed to the pop princess and her merry band of hit making clowns

Never liked Isobel Campbell, her whispy ... eh, whisper ... is pretty irritating, but there was something intiguing with the pairing and the resulting BotBS.
It's an enjoyable album. But, there's no arguing that it's not a patch on any of Lanegan's records, or the Soulsavers record. But for what it is, it's a fine little album (albeit lacking in chemistry, but it's got a little bit of charm).

Sorry about the misuderstanding, Pizzle. Glad to hear you're a real gunfighting music fan too.
God, imagine Lanegan doing a cover of Robbins' El Paso, Streets of Laredo or Johnny Cash's Hardin Wouldn't Run?
I admit I enjoyed three tracks off BOTBS: The False Husband and Honey Child and Circus..., but the rest was pretty forgettable. I've wanted Mark to do a duets album with a woman for years. I wish he'd picked Hope Sandoval instead.

If anyone else is getting anxious waiting for the gunfighting music to show up, you might try these: www.anticclay.com/acfrontpage.htmand his former band: cdbaby.com/found?allsearch=myssouriI am in no way affiliated with this artist, beyond being a longtime fan. So this isn't spam advertising. If it's gunfighting music you want, he's got it, either as Blind Michael Bradley of Myssouri, or Antic Clay.
