The Mars Volta, May 15th.
I'm ready to get my salsa dance on.

I ended up doing an aerobics kind of routine to get through one of the longest hours ever. I must add that I hate aerobics, but not as much as I hated having to endure that Mars Volta show.

When did you see 'em? I'm so excited, but a part of me is thinking it will be draining.

Can't remembered exactly when.. The concert I saw was when they were the openingband for the RHCP. Who sucked even more, fucking sell outs. My love for the Peppers died that night.

Oh, when I saw that tour QOTSA opened for RHCP. I thought they kicked ass, but hey...that was the night I discovered Mr. Lanegan so it will forever be a magical one.

los angeles is the fuckin holy land. it's a refuge for the dead. for those that have been and gone. and those that would choose to watch, while they sink similarly without even realising. corroding. rust never sleeps. dinosaur jr as a tourist attraction. jurassic park. 'well i hear that laurel canyon is full of famous stars, but i hate them worse than lepers, and i'll kill 'em in their cars'
- Neil Young, Revolution Blues. That song is the summation of everything rock n roll music should be. off-the-cuff. truly passionate. electric. literate. insane. fuck all your Dinosaur Jr reunions, Pixies reunions... what does it mean? fade away? burn out? comeback for a few quid/dollars and a song on an advert? forget everything your work ever stood for? Just Do It! it's old.

oh boy, mokkly. i really don't have the time this morning to respond to this dribblage, with my appointments for sun tanning, nose job and a dick extension upcoming within the hour. but i'll try to fit in some time for you good old english friend.
as you know, an argument about whether neil young is truly passionate, literate, insane, or for that matter a rock fucking genius, will not be forthcoming. i'm on board with all that.
and yes laurel canyon is full of stars that do need to be killed, preferably in their cars or wherever you can find them. but let's be real, neil wrote some of his best songs in los angeles. tonight's the night was recorded on the sunset strip you fucker. written in topanga, as many albums were.
if you are a music fan of some depth, as I know you are, there really is no better place to be. and you know it. the underground is thick and filled with talent. there's art happening in this city that inspires, if you just have the desire to wipe away the gloss and dig deep. this is why the jealousy is pervasive in your post my man. you want to be here, you feel it in your soul, and most importantly, neil wants you to be here.
and by the way, i'm happy that the pixies and dinosaur jr. have opportunities to finally cash in. shall all of our heroes remain poor or should we allow them some financial stability? why is it that if you come back you automatically forgot what your band stood for? i don't get that, plus us, ahem, older fans need to relive previous rock glory to stay young. i'd rather see the pixies fat and old any day, as opposed to, like interfag or some 80's retread shit.
not to mention, you are a pearl jam fan, and because of this very fact, every argument you make is suspect from the start.
so go get some sun, and listen to neil.
eat a peach, carl
