On the general tribute album, there's actually 2 referenced above. The one that was listed for years in Raeni's discography on this site (mentioning Clothes of Sand) was the one Joe Boyd put together back in the day, the Grohl/Vedder one was a later project. Neither have been released, and probably now never will be. Nick's estate is managed by his sister Gabrielle, and she's very protective. Not a bad thing, as this means that special editions etc have been kept to a minimum (although the contract Joe got for Nick when he sold Witchseason to Island meant that his 3 albums will never be out of print) and there's still the odd little surprise every few years or so. Hard to say what happened with the first album, I guess as it came hot on the heels of a surge of interest and she just said no, or not yet, and it faded away (plus if it had the likes of Kate Bush on there, licencing would have been a pain). The later one was binned after Heath Ledger's death. They might appear at some point, these things do have a habit of appearing out of the vaults. But as there was another one released earlier this year, they're probably in the same drawer as his Top Gear session and the masters of when a young Elton John did a BBC session of Nick's songs instead of plugging his own.

Agrio is a duo from Madrid, Spain and using a "what if..." methodology they write instrumental songs that they send later to a revolving cast of their talented and generous friends so they can add their magic. With this in mind they sent music to MARK LANEGAN, Enablers frontman PETE SIMONELLI & to SCOTT MCCLOUD from Girls Against Boys, Soulside and so much more. 'El Amigo Americano' is the result of these collaborations, 10 tracks of some of the most beautifully striking music around. The work with Mark Lanegan and Pete Simonelli were originally released as two vinyl EPs and Scott McCloud as a digital EP. EP 1 - EP one 'La Murga Ep' with Mark Lanegan was their debut on feb. 2020 EP2 - followed it that same autumn with The Thin Man EP featuring Pete Simonelli (Enablers). Both were originally released on vinyl via the San Francisco based label Broken Clover Records. These records sold out fast. EP 3 - "Repeat to Infinity EP" (digital only), with Scott McCloud's (Girls Against Boys, New Wet Kojak, Paramount Styles) on voice and guitar. Went into two diffent stores with about 10 copies of the magazine but no discs on any! Mine was a subscriber one which was late because of the CD. Turns out UK stores don't have it because of 'issues' - the CDs are manufactured in the EU and presumably they got stuck in the same "nobody knows how it works now" void that swallowed up all my work since Jan 1st... Mail order copies should all have the CDs Unfortunately, UK newsstand copies of MOJO 328 will NOT feature the usual covermount CD. This is due to unprecedented issues with the transport of the CDs from continental Europe to the UK.
The CD will, however, be included with all subscriber copies of MOJO 238, all newsstand copies outside the UK and Ireland, and all physical copies ordered from MOJO’s magazine sales web site, greatmagazines.co.uk.

Just in case anyone missed this the first time round in 2012 when it was part of the Separate's Orchestral Variations album, Mark's cover of the Cure's 'Close to Me' is included on the CD with this month's Mojo Magazine (Robert Smith cover)

Piccadilly Records has this as a Sept 4 release so I guess they're still staggering the dates in the UK

Files I have are just the titles with (IYEARA Remix) added, with a featuring added to the one with the guest vocalist. Same with the Amazon tracklist, although I guess with a digital-only release* this is something which can be fiddled with right up to the last minute.
*EDIT: nice hopeful tweet from Iyeara last night suggests a vinyl version is being worked on

She Loved You remix here - this one's probably more of an indication of what the rest of it sounds like, although I'm not sure what the 'typical' track is as they're all different. Which reminds me, I'd better get a bit of a shift on

A concert of artists covering Galaxie 500 songs was planned for this year's RSD, but obviously didn't happen. So instead, there will be 20 bands & artists making home covers instead; 1 a day starting today with Kiwi Jr covering Tugboat. Mark is doing something (doesn't say what here) with Dylan Carlson at some mystery point between now and the 23rd.
Not a huge amount of info, but there you go.

I have very definite favourites on it (and just the one that I am struggling to like) and this one is nearly one of them, it will probably be less divisive than other remix jobs as it's kind of one main idea running through it rather than giving parts to a bunch of different people. Can still only see that Flooded Soil are putting it out, wondering if this'll be digital-only for now as Amazon only have MP3 preorders on the go*.
*I've not read all the blurb yet in all honesty as I'm a bit behind with my submissions (spoiler alert: Alain Johannes' new one is a fucking masterpiece), this one's still a couple of weeks away from starting on.

Yeah, they'll be coming pretty much directly from the pressing plant I guess, which saves on the number of hands it has to pass through but creates its own delays in having to hit the postal system at the first stage rather than the last, so timings can be a bit random.

If mine turned up (still waiting for a bloody COVID testing kit to arrive, and my Mojo subscription seems to be once every 2 months now) then everyone else's definitely will! Still not listened to mine yet, found myself with a pile of reviewing stuff to do (3 things published this week already, which is pretty much on a par with my entire output of 2019), catching up with stuff from the last Bandcamp artist's day and being really weirded out by reviews for this (no middle ground, it's very binary - it's either great or it isn't. No "it's OK") so struggling to be in a mood to pipe it in. Still, neither it or me is going anywhere so its time will come

On Monday 18 May, Headstock will be taking over the United We Stream platform to host a special evening of music and conversation to remember the life and legacy of Ian Curtis, and will be joined by two of the Joy Division singer’s bandmates, New Order’s Bernard Sumner and Stephen Morris.
‘Moving Through the Silence’ has been curated to mark the 40th anniversary of the death of the Joy Division frontman, as well as the start of Mental Health Awareness Week – both of which fall on 18 May.
The major beneficiaries of donated monies will be the Manchester mental health charity Manchester Mind.
The interviews with Bernard Sumner & Stephen Morris are part of two hours of live and exclusive conversation, music and poetry curated by music & mental wellbeing festival, Headstock, and DJ/writer Dave Haslam and presented on the GMCA’s United We Stream platform.
The Killers frontman, Brandon Flowers, will be talking about the influence of Joy Division on the band.
Other interviewees include Ian Curtis's friend Mark Reeder, and there will be a special appearance from Maxine Peake.
Headstock’s broader mission to ‘use music to change the conversation on mental health’ will be further supported with performances from Elbow, LoneLady, and the Lottery Winners, as well as acclaimed Irish rock band Kodaline.
Also performing; Jennifer Hardy, poet Oliver Lomax, and the Royal Northern College of Music’s Northern Session Choir.
The event will be streamed via unitedwestream.co.uk/ - and can also be accessed via www.facebook.com/UnitedWeStreamGM/
The event is free to view, but donations are strongly requested, with 70% of the donations going to the mental health charity Manchester Mind. The remainder will be divided between Nordoff Robins and the Mayor Of Greater Manchester’s Charity.
More about our chosen charity, Manchester Mind; www.manchestermind.org/
Headstock; headstock.live/
United We Stream; unitedwestream.co.uk/ Mark will also be performing a song during this tribute, just announced by Dave Haslam on Twitter. Bassist Peter Hook will also be making a stream available of his 3-hours long So This Is Permanent gig from Macclesfield in 2015 during which his band The Light perform every single Joy Division song, available from 12pm UK time for 24 hours on Joy Division and The Light's respective Facebook pages, fans are encouraged to donate to the Epilepsy Society. Would have been so much better if hatchets were buried for just 1 day, but there you go.

It's arrived! And on the pile it goes because I've had a bit of a splurge lately and there's new stuff everywhere (mmm. Elephant Tree)
Also - is this the first Mark Lanegan (ie, not 'Band') album without Mike Johnson?
