Anyone going to the Brussels AB show? Would be fun to meet up with some of you guys and laugh at each other's silly hair. Or something. Or maybe watch a band.

If you need a hotel, I'd recommend using the link above and book a room in the Crowne Plaza hotel. Holy shit, that place rules ass!!! They mix the best drinks and serve the best cappucino outside of italy. mjummie
5 star hotel, but we didn't pay too much. err I paid 50 euro's, but we were with a big group..

Thanks for the tip shoeshoene, I've gone for one of those Eurostar last minute deals so if it's not the lap of luxury I'll be stopming around demanding like a proper pop star.

Like that narrows it down ;D ...you'd be surprised at how little it covers, the last gig I went to I spent 3 hours chatting to my sister & when it let out we went shopping for herbal tea...........very rock & roll..........although it was The Donnas on a work night & they let out at 10:20, we should have gone to see Winnebago Deal.............

Hello !
So ppl who have been to Bxl last tuesday , don't you have any review or seomthing to say about this show? I'm interested and I hope that I'm not the onlys one.
I just read Alain's reveiw on onewhiskey and I'm a bit disapointed about what he said.. ok Mark standing in the dark felt a bit weird I agree but what did he expect else ? a talkative guy that says jokes and askes the the crowd to clap in their hands to the music ?! Yes Mark didn't say that much the other night, I saw him in a "better mood" by the past.. okay it felt a bit odd. But what was the most surprinsing thing that occured to me is that the "crowd" took almost 12 songs to wake up (on Resurection btw.. as if they were all dead.. too much beer? nope I don't think so).. so in this case what can we expect from a band?
They did their stuff (in a great way) and an Hour and 1/4 later they were off.
That was the most disapointing part for me concerning the show : There was no energy that passed from the ppl to the stage...
The highlights were (not that original I agree since all the reviews I read until now say the same) an amaaazing "On Jesus Program".. never heard it played that way before, I'm still moved by the time I type this; Skeletal, Resurection , No easy Action , Message To mine, etc etc... Well, It wasn't the greatest show I've seen this year but it had that rock n' roll, that voice , and all this chemistry that makes you want you stay there standing listening to that band ever and ever.. . (Hopefully I'm not the only one that felt that way last Tuesday...)
Take Care

Hey,
I'm afraid I also thought it was a rather lacklustre performance, though it may have been the venue adding a level of sterility - I started in one of the balconies at the beginning of the set and I swear people were standing in the main bit in regimented rows and columns, very queer. I couldn't put my finger on any significant difference in the band's performance though, in fact the sound was excellent, particularly clear was Shelley's voice - the relief of actually being able to hear her without needing a bloody ear trumpet! Mark as usual with no proper lighting was invisible to all except the first few rows, perhaps it was a desire for intimacy with a crowd size that couldn't allow for it that was wrong. For the second half of the show I wheedled my way downstairs and towards the front, but the crowd just wasn't energised. At the very front, people were leaning with their elbows on the stage, as if waiting patiently for it all to be over. OK I was also jealous of them, it was the first time I hadn't actually made it to the front at a Mark gig and I wanted to slap them awake.
I'm afraid I disagree with Callme about the rendition of 'On Jesus Program'. I was so excited to hear that they'd added it to the set, and maybe it's just me, but they went through it like a dose of salts, like it was 'Knees up Mother Brown', I had to do a double-take to make sure it wasn't Bill Bailey up there with his keyboard. It also didn't help that my non-fan companion had earlier started singing 'Paradise City' in time to 'Message to Mine' and to my horror it had scanned (though I am prepared to accept that that this may have been the result of beer).
Anyway, this has all come out more negatively than intended. I really enjoyed the show. Mark and the band did what was expected of them, the extended version of Fix that stamina tests Brett, Michael, Norm with and against each other was nothing short of mesmerising. The chav who so irreverently sang 'Paradise City' borrowed 'Field Songs' to play in his car as soon as we returned. Something good happened.

.....I swear people were standing in the main bit in regimented rows and columns, very queer. ....sounds like a London audience having a good night, I actually find that quite frightening myself when they do that, you never know what will happen if one of them breaks rank....... .........awww, bless! The poor man...
