i just looked on onewhiskey - the man's done six lots of shows on the west coast in the last 9 years... (including acoustic shows, supporting johnny cash, with greg dulli, van conner, duff mckagan and other guests) and only 4 lots of european dates (5 after this tour)... none of which have had 'special guests' or anything... But they're Americans, Mokkly, have some fucking compassion.

Come and live in Liverpool with me. European Capital of Culture don't you know. He has never played here though. The Pumpkins did and had their passports stolen as well as Darcy getting attacked and the Beasties were locked up here and Ryan Adams fell off stage and broke his arm here and cried like a baby I was told by his nurse, but the Twilight Singers had a good time. Not selling it very well am I. USA has great potential, just a tick of a box away. But the polls don't look good. Amazing what a little fear can do to people. Terror isn't an attack it's the waiting for another one, and Bush just loves you waiting. I love America, hate to see what's happening there.

Bush is as big in america as his Gavin Rossdale-led namesake were. and he's almost as bad. almost.

It was on Fast Forward (Viva) if some of you are able to watch German tv. Maybe Charlotte, the host, will play it again soon; For example next saturday between 11.10pm -11.50pm, right at the end of the show.

Scuzz tv in the uk have suddenly started playing Sideways In Reverse again (even though they hardly played it when it was released), so maybe they are getting us ready for the new video. I have a feeling they were probably filmed around the same time although I could be wrong. karlito/mokkly feel free to correct me - i'm sure you will

... a european record label, and a higher profile in europe make it much more viable to do stuff over here... plus, the US$ has been pathetically weak against the £ recently... another reason to vote. So why is that the case? Do record companies over here in the States demand more control over their artists in order to command more money? (I think I read somewhere that most indie labels have a parent company which is usually one of the larger record companies and that larger company has control over part of what the indie label does meaning that indie bands don’t really have that much control over what they do.) Do artists have more control over their material (music released, videos released, other merchandise, more show, etc) outside of the States? I’m really confused about this.

Mark's label is now Beggars Banquet, which IS a UK based label. He doesn't have a 'US' record company, though Beggars does have a US division, as well as divisions in many other countries. But the 'parent label', in this case, is based in the UK.

NME have reviewed the single in their 6 November 04 edition: "A decadent, sleaze ridden madrigal of sin, or the sound of Lanegan calling up PJ Harvey, storming down to a boozer and chucking tables about for kicks"

HMV in canary wharf are aboslutely useless. I've just been to buy the new single, and guess what? "we don't stock new release singles. how are you spelling his name?" funny though, they had copies of U2's new single all over the shop. Bastards!
froggequene I love your quote. Did you see the tribute on bbc2 at the weekend?

Yeah, I never got the first single because I can't download, and the person at Beggars who said they'd send me a copy never did. Now I go to the Beggars site to try to get the new single, but their mail order page repeatedly gives me errors so I guess I can't order this one either. Haven't seen any of the videos, can't get the singles. Still sorry, folks, but at least people in Europe COULD get stuff from SubPop by mail, including videos. This just all sucks. Enjoy the rest of the concerts.

Raeni, I just checked the Beggars UK page and the store have the single listed but say it is currently unavailable.
I've had 'error' problems with their online store in the past too.

froggequene I love your quote. Did you see the tribute on bbc2 at the weekend? ....unfortunately I missed it but I've seen bits & pieces on other channels, some of them had actually been playing half decent music for once, we're back to the same roster of banality again.........

hit the city single - got it. like it.
a couple of things Mud Pink Skag has a kinda QOTSAish lead guitar sound (quite synthy, might be some synth stuff in there, as it's produced by alain johannes) and even has a sound effect sample of a screeching car, quite 'rock' ... simple. rock n roll. im sure mark will LOVE the QOTSA comparison...! or maybe not... but that guitar sound is very much like something from the first Queens album.
Mirrored is more acoustic, arpeggio-led stuff... very nice. good lyrics.

mokkly I am terribly disappointed. I was really hoping my last post on this thread would force you to remind me of how bitter I sound. Because, I am, you know, bitter.
