I got email today and they told me that clairvoyance was on backorder and after 12/26/2004 backordered items will be automatically cancelled. Somehow I dont think Im ever going to get this album.
On the plus side I was informed that my copies of Funkadelic's "Standing On The Verge Of Getting It On" & Neil Young's "Trans" are on their way.

Ok, wait, just bear with me... if someone is going to print up a certain number of records, and that number sells out, then how come they can't print up more? Simple concept. Is there some sort of legal mumbo-jumbo that says only a certain number of albums can be released and then no more? This stuff confuses me. I don't think I'm ever going to get Clairvoyance either barriers.

Is there some sort of legal mumbo-jumbo that says only a certain number of albums can be released and then no more? probably. it doesn't make sense, because you'd think that there'd be a market for earlier music by a band who became semi-famous, and therefore the industry heads would be able to make a quick buck from it, but apparently bureaucracy rules the roost there too.

You'd think that these music bigwigs would equate "high demand" and "record on back order" with "$$$" and get to making more. More records means more money for them and the artists. Fans get to hear their favorite music and the suits make money. Everyone is happy.

With small labels though, it's par for the course to produce less than probable demand to save them from forking out cash to make stuff that they may not be able to sell. And if demand outstrips supply to a great extent, it creates further problems for tiny labels as they may not have the money to produce enough copies to meet demand and so will sadly be left with the option of potentially bankrupting the label through production costs, or admitting defeat by selling the release rights to another party. Which is probably what's happened here, as the more observant people of this parish may have noticed that the labels have changed between the first preorder and this one...

i asked Van Conner about Clairvoyance on CD at CD Universe, and he told me that none of 'the others' (presumably the other trees') know/knew anything about it... he also said he'd ordered a copy for himself...
so, i wouldnt be surprised if this release keeps getting delayed indefinitely...
Also, from Gary Lee Conner's site -
'I have also heard that a good quality bootleg of Clairvoyance (our first album) is in circulation. It's never been on CD before and I'd like to get one because I haven't heard it in about ten years.'
which seems to make it pretty clear that the guys themselves know very little about what is going on with the (presumably) official release...
