Well, actually it looks like you care. But if you really know what you're talking about, cause just for you to know I WAS THERE TOO, what proof do you have that Mark wasn't sick Would really love to understand why you are sooo sure ... cause, maybe I'm wrong (cause I'm sure wrong a lot of time), but you sound like you know something that ONLY YOU know... Come on, share that little secret... Soooo ... if we are following you... Mark didn't want to play ... though about something more interesting to do.. and decided too just not show up and not even to warn HIS own band and didn't give a shit about them loosing their whole evening.... Or Mark warned The Showbox people the day before... but they wanted to make some $$$ so decided to keep it secret and than asked the rest of the band to show up just to pretend ... Where do you live man? Paranoid island???

I don't know what the story was, and I could spend days speculating with each reason as plausible as the next. But I think I'm going to believe what my friend was told by stage security that night, because it's as good as any story I've heard. My friend asked a stage security guard (who was someone she knows), and he said, "The show had to be cancelled because a pigeon flew into Mark's head and stunned him."

Maybe it was the same pigeon that missed crapping on my girl's head by approximately 1 inch when we were in Seattle last.
I hope ML caught that pigeon & ate the SOB.
Actually, that might explain the food poisoning too. Hmm.

I never once said anywhere Mark wasn't sick or had any intention of not doing the show. What I did say is that he probably relapsed and got sick because of it. It is well documented that Mark has a drug problem and that being in his "hometown" connections were plentiful. If you want to slander me fine but at least get the facts straight. I'm not an idiot and I'm not new. I have been around a long time and evryone of you probably can thank me for recordings in your collection. My point was that the way the Showbox staff handled it seemed wrong to me easy as that.

I *think* I've seen Mark perform under the influence.. which happened to be the best show of the tour. So it doesn't seem likely to me that that would be a reason to cancel..

....I think we should all calm down before there's a major international incident & Bush is called upon to provide a diplomatic solution.........& we wouldn't want that to happen now, would we?

Surely if it's written rather than spoken, then it's libel rather than slander? Of course, that'd then mean that you libelled Mark Lanegan, his band and the venue for saying that they were lying about the reason for the cancellation

Everyone is entitled to their own opinion as to why the Seattle show really was cancelled. But maybe I can shed a little light on the situation. First, let me say that the minute the show was cancelled nearly every single person around me mumbled, "Once a junkie, always a junkie." I just kind of shrugged it off. I was in no mood to try and make people think that maybe Mark really did have food poisoning. It happens to the best of us. I stuck around for a long time because the line for getting a refund/having your tickets stamped for the "rescheduled show" was insanely long and I was in heels and there was no way I was going to stand for an extra couple of hours so my date and I camped out by the bar. In the meantime, everyone else in the band came out and stood around, some went to the bar. Now, word had it that Mark was heading to the hospital and wouldn't it seem to you guys that his friends would want to follow him there to make sure he was all right? No one seemed concerned whatsoever. Leaving the Showbox, I wound up walking directly in back of Nick Oliveri and he didn't seemed worried or anything. In fact, he was having a pretty good time with whoever he was with. Because of all this, I think Mark truly had a bad case of food poisoning. I mean, if he were overdosing, everyone would be going to the hospital. But if someone is leaning over a toilet hurling like a madman, yah, no one is really going to want to rush to their side... you kind of just sit back and wait patiently for the ralphing to end.
