Oh yeah !!!!!!!!!!!!!! THE MELVINS return with "Hold It In", their first studio album as a quartet since 2010's "The Bride Screams Murder", on October 14. The new CD was recorded in both Los Angeles and Austin earlier this year. Joining Buzz Osborne and Dale Crover for the 12-song outing are BUTTHOLE SURFERS' guitar player Paul Leary and bass player JD Pinkus. "'Hold It In' is a refreshing piece of fiction in a boring world of fact and bullshit," said Osborne. "Paul is one of the best guitar players I have ever heard and Pinkus has an outside the box type of approach to both guitar and bass that you just have to let it ride. "I can't believe this actually happened. I'm thrilled." "It's very rare you get a chance to work with three folks from the 'Break A Wish' foundation, all at the same time," said Pinkus. "I believe they'll remember their experience with me forever (or until they finally all lose their fight with S.I.D.S)." THE MELVINS kick off a round of U.S. tour dates on October 15 in Sacramento at Assembly, which also includes a performance at this year's Voodoo Experience in New Orleans. Osborne, Crover and Pinkus will be the touring lineup for this run of dates. Read more at www.blabbermouth.net/news/the-melvins-to-release-hold-it-in-in-october/#U0Qcj4sBLQIbOFiP.99

I take it Coady and Jared are just taking the time off due to Big Biz touring? Either way I'm looking forward to the album. Too bad there's no east coast dates to go along with it.

MORE GOOD NEWS ! soundcloud.com/godflesh-2/new-dark-agesReformed U.K. industrial metal pioneers GODFLESH will release their new album, "A World Lit Only By Fire", on October 7 via GODFLESH frontman Justin K. Broadrick's Avalanche Recordings. The track listing for the CD is as follows: 01. New Dark Ages 02. Deadend 03. Shut Me Down 04. Life Giver Life Taker 05. Obeyed 06. Curse Us All 07. Carrion 08. Imperator 09. Towers Of Emptiness 10. Forgive Our Fathers The song "New Dark Ages" can be streamed using the SoundCloud widget below. In an interview with the French radio station Le 106, Justin K. Broadrick stated about the band's forthcoming album: "It will be [musically] similar to the first two or three [GODFLESH albums]. I just think, like we're playing these shows, we feel very pure about we're doing and honoring the initial intentions with what we originally set out to do. Which, I think, like most bands and musicians and all the rest of it, by the time you get on to your fourth album, it's somewhat of a dilution going on to what you initially tried to achieve. It will definitely sound aggressive and it probably won't sound like any of the other records we've made, but it will have the minimalism of the first few records." Added GODFLESH bassist G.C. Green: "It won't sound like the first two record; it will be more the spirit… When you make records over the years, you change as people, you change as musicians, you progress, you develop and you take other styles on, but I think, having had a break from it and come back to it, it seems that we've gone straight back into what the essence of it was originally, and that's why it feels good." Continued Justin: "It's getting straight back to the core of what this is all about. And I think having a break from it has probably even more inspired… It's like refocusing and obviously, we're somewhat older and wiser. It's gonna be a really interesting record. It's extremely minimal and very, very brutal — a fairly unforgiving record, really, I think." GODFLESH's "Decline & Fall" EP was released on June 26 in the U.S. via Avalanche Recordings. The Japanese version of the EP includes two bonus songs. GODFLESH released its first new recording in over 12 years through Decibel magazine's Flexi Series. A cover of the track "F.O.D. (Fuck of Death)" by legendary death thrashers SLAUGHTER (Canada) was included in the subscriber version of the magazine's November 2013 issue. For anyone who likes this sort of thing, Foo Fighters will be playing 3 secret club shows after their Invictus Games thing in London. Electric Brixton (formerly the Fridge, and reopening in a couple of weeks) seems to be favourite among those who seem to know about this...

Wow that Fantomas box set is pretty cool looking. I'm sure that will come with a hefty price tag. I love The Director's Cut but their other stuff isn't really my thing.

I so, so wanted to post this in the Favourite Song thread, but it doesn't qualify. Faith No More's Motherfucker is out there, and it's a bit toothless.

Sometimes someone goes, and it's just so sad and unfair. Farewell Ian McLagen, without the Small Faces there may well never have been the Screaming Trees.

Shame it's a Record Store Day thing as ebay prices (and let's face it, that's the only place anyone's going to find this) will make it too prohibitively expensive
