Is anybody going to the above gig?
Due to my work schedules it's a rare treat for me to be able to see Mark play at this particular gig.
I do not have any friends who are into Mark so I am asking for potential individuals/groups who I could maybe meet up with before the gig.
So, can anyone help?.....please!

There should be a couple of us popping down, although we're not sure how/exactly when yet - we're sorting something out tomorrow night at the Mancunia gig, although chances are fair to middling that we'll have forgotten again by the end of it...
Just to check though, as you've now got me all panicky - 1/12? My ticket says 30/11

Thanks for the reply Foz!
No need to panic however, the gig is on 30/11/04....I was being a dick and got my dates mixed up with something trivial I have to do on the 1st of Dec!
Anyhow, if you do decide to attend then let me know and i'll tag along if it's ok. I got a ticket yesterday and they had already sold 100...you can usually pay on the door at the leadmill too, and incase you've never been before it's a cracking location to watch gigs...you get really close to the artist!

....just to add...I saw the 'Trees there in '96 with Homme on guitar and it was awesome....especially when Van dove into the crowd!
...oh happy days!

I think I went there to see the Hard-Ons in 1989 or thereabouts. Can't remember much about it though I'll either post here or PM you tomorrow or Monday when we've got a better idea of what's going on...

Still not sure what's going on, to be honest...
If I do turn up, look out for a skinny bloke with a very old Soundgarden T-Shirt.

My vey humblest apologies to Weapon X - leaving later than I should have done, along with shitty driving conditions (fog you could knit with) and a huge holdup while a previous accident was cleared, a journey that should have taken just over an hour or so took 3. And Sheffield's charming one-way system didn't help much either. "Not a problem", thought I, "it's just before 9.30, and that's when the MLB have started their set at every other gig so far, so I've just about made it" Except for this one. For some bollocks reason, the band had to finish for 10 so started much earlier. I got there as Skeletal History started, which as people who read the setlists of yore know, is the 2nd to last song of the main set. Fucksocks. Still, they played Ivy, and that thing with Brett on vocals at the end, so it wasn't a total washout... I take it that the lack of Strange Religion and no spare mic on stage meant that Shelley wasn't there again. Roll on Thursday - at least i don't have to drive to that one

I was there last night, and I have to say it was pretty damn good - only the second time I've seen Mark live & this was by far the better of the 2, nice intimate venue instead of the more "cavernous" manchester Academy. I also noticed a guy in the crowd with a handicam filming everything, that's a video I would love to see.
On the point of an early start, unfortunately the leadmill has decided in it's infinite wisdom to start their midweek gigs as early as possible, so they can kick everyone out by ten to prepare for the odious student friendly cheese night that follows. Fools.

Fools wasn't the words I was using... I would have been more pissed off if it was the only time that I would have seen them on the tour, but as it was the 4th (with one more to go), it coulda been worse...

My vey humblest apologies to Weapon X Thats OK Foz, no worries - Sounds like a real bummer of a journey that...where were you traveling from? As for the gig, it was brilliant - The second time I have seen Mark (previous was at the same venue watching the Trees). I loved every minute. I'm not sure who the opening act was as I missed any introductions if any but they were pretty decent. Nick played about a 6 song set including 'Wake Up Screaming', 'I'm Dead', '13th Floor/AKA Tension Head', and Mark came out for a version of 'Four Corners' which was ace! Then Mark hit the stage and it was pretty much the same set list as those previous one's you posted, 'Autopilot', 'Gospel Plow', 'Ivy' et al. Top night! What is that song Bret plays at the end though? ...oh yes, there was no Shelley!

The openers would have been the Black Velvets who do what they do well, but I'm not a huge fan of what they do The setlist seems fairly stable now (at last), so I'm not expecting any surprises for tomorrow - Oren's on her way to Bristol now so hopefully she may recognise the last song.

Hi
I'm supposed to be writing a review of the gig at the leadmill last night but for various reasons (mainly the crap scheduling of the leadmill to accomodate cheese nights for students like me) i missed the start of the gig.
if anyone here can help me out with a setlist then i'd really appreciate it. i think i saw enough to get the feel of what seemed a pretty cool gig, but i need to know a bit more to write a decent acount of it.
cheers jim taylor

err... surely it's probably best not to write an account of something you didnt see 100% of...?
just a thought.

Arse-end of the set (see above) was:
I'll Take Care of You Skeletal History Methamphetamine Blues
Encores: Blues For D Autopilot Gospel Plow That song that Brett sings that I have no idea what it is.
The main setlist seems to be pretty standard now, so any of the more recent non-Shelley setlists (ie, Manchester & Leeds) should be accurate for the missing stuff. If anyone who caught the full set could clarify/amend that, it'd be appreciated.

not a problem. it started off with sideways in reverse. mark walked out of the shadows wearing a red cape and went straight to the mic and screamed "are you ready to party motherfuckers?" some people answered "yes" Unsatisfied, Lanegan screamed again "I said ARE YOU READY TO PARTY MOTHER FUCKERS? ??" the crowd went crazy and screamed "yes oh yes!". This tall, skinny guy wearing an odd soundgarden t-shirt screamed back at him " Don't say motherfucker, motherfucker!" we were all so excited because he rarely speaks to the crowd. as soon as nick touched the guitar strings lights explosions were seen everywhere, mark threw the cape right at me but some douche bag took it from me. they rocked us out during the whole song. at the end i even fainted because of the burst of sensations i suddenly experienced just listening to the man. so i can't write how the rest of the show went. but diecherleader was also standing close to the stage and took some pics so he can probably help you write the rest of your critique. I hate that it's always the exact same show night after night. Couldn't they mix it up a bit?
