..........I would fill in the details but I'm too drunk, I'm starting this for people who were really paying attention. I had a great night.
I thought Shelley was absolutely brilliant tonight, I saw her in Islington but I wasn't that impressed mostly because the sound was shite. If she wants to come to the UK, if she's planning to do something in the US, could someone please let me know?
Brett, Eddi, Nick, the guy out the back making weird sounds(Aldo Struyf), absolute stars.
Mark had lovely shiny hair & the voice wasn't bad either.

Howdy! Get your arse on the queens board. That was fantastico. I'm gonna copy and paste what I wrote on the Queens board. Easily the best out of three times I've seen Mark. The band were really tight (like a tiger, yes) The Black Velvets were.....paint-by-numbers pub-rock Zeppelin. Nick was quite amusing. He played Bloody Hammer, Gonna Leave You, Fuck Yeah I'm Free, and some other stuff. For the last two numbers Mark's drummer came on and it sounded way better. Mark was genius. I don't usually like tattoo covered ladies, but that Shelly bird is nice.

Too drunk to remember that he did Gospel Plow?!!! Was indeed a great night - going with a mosty up-tempo set, and throwing in Auto Pilot & GP at the end was great. (not the best version of GP you understand, but a case of 'it's the thought that counts' & one for the memories). Shelley was DAMN HOT! (I now know what I want for Chritsmas )

....I remember what he was doing, I was just dancing & generally having a good time like you're supposed to do at these things, Foz should have the set list in the morning.
....I'm not going to compare the last time I saw them to this time, they were both very different experiences but I am truly sorry, Brett Nelson, you are a demi God among guitar players, Fix was almost perfection, it's one of my favourite tracks live & Wedding Dress, oooooooooooh!

Good for you!
Shelley was great. The whole thing was. Strangely hypnotic at at times especially Fix at the end. Real head music.

i was very glad to have heard Ivy for the first time... and still impressed by Gospel Plow, although nowhere near as good as when the 'trees did it in 96 (with barrett doing amazing things with the drums, gary lee and josh homme both firing out amazing lead lines and van rumbling along with that bassline, playing it as it should be played), but it was better than on the shows i caught in 2001...
but, overall, i didnt think it was a great show. i thought the last london show was better in terms of sound, attitude and performance.
and i still think mark has only had great sound on one tour that ive seen, and that was in 2003.
maybe im just a miserable cunt and expect too much.

Thought whole gig was great, tho every Black Vevet song reminded me of something else they were at least enthusiastic, 'specially the bassist who looked like Jack Black in School of Rock and as tho he would dive off the stage to crowd surf at the end of each song (Ah bless) Nick O was able to impress despite looking isolated for a reason, not many out there who could entertain with a mic and a guitar And as for the man himself...It's all the voice now isn't it ? He doesn't need to twitch about or make freinds with us mere mortals. When he sang 'Ill Take Care of You' while looking vaguely in my direction I may have fainted if not that I was holding on to something.......

Thing with the Black Velvets was that someone should really have told them that they weren't headlining... extended "rawk" endings to every song, changing guitars before every song, and far too much unintelligable banter between every song is something that bands do when people actually pay to go & see them, rather than when you're on your first showcasing tour and aretrying to make an impression. The time spent pissing about could have made way for an extra song - then again, I'm glad that didn't happen. Admittedly, they do what they do well, but when what they do is late-70s pub-rock posturing, it's not for me

Have to agree with Mokkly that the previous show in London was better.
Still a great gig. Didn't mind the Black Velvets - much better than a lot of the shit bands that I've seen open gigs.
Nick was great. His manic laugh is disturbing.
Mark's set was solid. The sound wasn't great. I was standing right in front of Mark up until the encore when this wanker starting barging his way into an already crowded line. Fuckin' pisses me off. Especially the dumb chick who was waving at Mark talking some shit about Bolgna - Yeah right bitch, Mark's going to acknowledge you. Apart from those pricks, I had a great time.
Though Islington (where I was right at the front again) was much better. And though Shelley is hot, not too keen on her singing.
I think the problem I had with this show wasn't the MLB but the fact I saw it a week after seeing Tom Waits in the flesh converting all in the audience with his preaching roar.

......personally, at Islington, for the most part, I thought venue was garbage, the feedback from my grandmother's hearing aid was infinitely more pleasant & I loved Fix, play me Fix & I'll go home happy

Have to agree with Mokkly that the previous show in London was better. yeah i agree with that too. But i still had an excellent time. hey does anyone remember the girl who fainted??! that was me!! oh man it was so random, i was fine and then i tell my mate i feel a tad faint..she just laughs at me coz she thinks im kidding. Next thing i know im on the floor with loads of people looking at me. So i got up had 2 glasses of water and then went back up front!i wasn't gonna let a little faint hold me back. it was a bit unexplainable though...some guy told me that's the affect mark has on the ladies...so yep guess thats it. Did anyone think mark looked better by the way?i did, think the black hair is much sexier.... it was so funny though, fainting is fun...i think i had a really soft landing because i was fuckin' comfy on that floor. Sorry if i fell on anyone!i cant remember...my friend said a girl behind me kind of cupped my head so thankyou lady! Oh and i met Liela Moss of the duke spirit in the loo's..she was lovely and gorgeous too. Their album's going to be released in feb i think..so keep your eyes pealed people. She tramples all over shelley in the looks department..but that's just my opinion. anyway..yeah it was fun.

were you to the right of the stage? With another girl?
It was crazy, a guy on my left fainted and then (maybe) you did about two minutes later. It wasn't even hot!

well i was fuckin' hot!you know what....i was wearing a mother of a scarf..which made me really fuckin' hot...and i actually took it off because i was hot. i fainted anyway though...it was too late! and i didnt eat dinner, slept at 6 went to a lecture at 9...i think i was just exhausted...obviously you dont know you are until something like that happens. all i know is when i got up and had water i was fine!it was the strangest funniest thing...i love it how everyone around you makes a large circle...and just stares at you because their scared if they speak or touch you you'll die! yeah i was with another girl to the right...bless her she did'nt know what was wrong...she was feeling for my heart beat! i had some real nice people behind me though...they let me crawl back to where i was standing. nice to see ive been mentioned on the qotsa site...was gonna post but then my comp froze..so fuck it! oh and it was no pussy matter, i was genuinely baked!and trust me i dont make a habbit of it..ive never fainted before! i was actually pretty proud..i've always wanted to know what happens and where you go..nothing really happens..you fall down..you get up, quite dissapointing.

Some people like Shelley's voice, some don't. I think it's weird that the girls who have said that her voice is crap get the rotten end of the deal. All of a sudden people start saying the girls hate Shelley because they're jealous. Um, I don't think that's the case. And further, it's weird that no one has said anything about Nick even though some have said they like him and others hate him. No one has said, "Aw, the guys say they hate Nick because they're jealous of him... getting to play with Mark and all." No, no, no. Some of the girls say they hate Shelley's voice because, here's a thought, they really do hate her voice. Some of the guys hate Nick because, here's a thought, they really hate his guitar playing and songs.
Everyone is entitled to their own opinion and we should all respect it and maybe just accept that Shelley's voice and Nick's guitar playing don't wow some folks. Hell, some people love Stevie Nicks' voice but if I have to listen to it, I'll go postal. I say that because I hate that warbly thing she does with her vocal cords and to me, the girl can't sing right. I ain't jealous of her because she once shagged every guy in that band.
Why did this whole thing get blown out of proportion? It's weird. Stop it everyone.
