well i was fuckin' hot!you know what....i was wearing a mother of a scarf..which made me really fuckin' hot...and i actually took it off because i was hot. i fainted anyway though...it was too late! and i didnt eat dinner, slept at 6 went to a lecture at 9...i think i was just exhausted...obviously you dont know you are until something like that happens. all i know is when i got up and had water i was fine!it was the strangest funniest thing...i love it how everyone around you makes a large circle...and just stares at you because their scared if they speak or touch you you'll die! yeah i was with another girl to the right...bless her she did'nt know what was wrong...she was feeling for my heart beat! i had some real nice people behind me though...they let me crawl back to where i was standing. nice to see ive been mentioned on the qotsa site...was gonna post but then my comp froze..so fuck it! oh and it was no pussy matter, i was genuinely baked!and trust me i dont make a habbit of it..ive never fainted before! i was actually pretty proud..i've always wanted to know what happens and where you go..nothing really happens..you fall down..you get up, quite dissapointing. Heh. Yeah. It's like, "ooh look at her/him, they fainted", and everyone just looks at each other. The security guys were pretty useless - someone called one when the other guy fainted and he just went "oh" If it was definately you I saw then you and your friend looked way young.....(it says 20 in your prof) I mean that in the nicest possible way!

Some of the girls say they hate Shelley's voice because, here's a thought, they really do hate her voice. that would be me then!

Some people like Shelley's voice, some don't. I think it's weird that the girls who have said that her voice is crap get the rotten end of the deal. All of a sudden people start saying the girls hate Shelley because they're jealous. Um, I don't think that's the case. BUT... the reason that whole thing started was because 'the guys' were getting 'the rotten end of the deal', being told by someone (i dont recall whom) that we were incapable of making any objective comment on such things because we all just wanted to fuck her. of course, when the girls start talking about mark in such ways, it's apparently fine, and you can all be objective... right? but we're all just thinking (and listening) with our dicks... obviously...!? shelley was great. and mark obviously agrees, since he hired her to stand out front, alongside him - under his name and reputation - and sing to his crowd. even allowing her to take a song on her own. so - as ive said several times over the last few months - i think she sounded good. Mark Lanegan, quite clearly, thought she sounded good. and a few people tell me she cant sing? i know who's opinion im inclined to have more respect for. oh, and how about this one - at Milton Keynes and at the Islington Academy, Mr.Lanegan's voice was not quite up to (Old) Scratch on Hit The City. he was singing well within himself (ie, much lower and bassier in order to give himself an easier time on the choruses), as he has also (occasionally) does with the verses of Borracho. so picking out faults is pretty easy. shelley had the balls to get up there and sing alongside someone who's voice is a thing that people rave on and on and on about... she took abuse from people, many of them women, who claimed she was there because of the way she looked (way to go with the female solidarity, ladies!)... and what's more, she got up there and sang in front of the biggest crowd ive seen for mark (solo) at the astoria (anywhere, come to think of it)... in 1998, me and my friends felt like we were in on the greatest secret ever, getting to meet shepherd, johnson and lanegan as they casually hung around the venue... and this time, the ground level was full and there were people upstairs as well... and the craziest thing is this - in 1998, that was the ONLY UK show he played (apart from scotland, which doesnt reall count in my world), and he couldnt even get CLOSE to filling the astoria back then... and this time he's done a whole UK tour, but still manages to get stacks of people in there... it's amazing what a QOTSA-connection and an increasingly boring and clichéd mythology from 'latch-on journalists' can do to someone's sales and reputation. Final Note... how many times did you see Shelley sing on this tour, Daisy? actually......... the REAL Final Note - The Black Velvets = the singer from Def Leppard, mixed with Oasis and Jet b-sides. they were the WORST support band i have seen in a long time. if you're going to be a walking cliché, you better have some fucking GREAT songs. and they dont. horrible. what a bunch of pricks. i hope this post is too long for anyone to bother reading it.

i hope this post is too long for anyone to bother reading it. sorry dude. i read it. i agree with most of what you're saying, except i do believe shelley is on that stage to provide some ass-factor. she's pretty fucking hot if you can look past all the tattoos. but she can also sing. a one-two punch if you will pardon the cliche. the post is pretty fucking long though. try brevity for a change, you english fuck.

Me and my friend thought the same thing. Especially the Joe Elliot connection. I was front row right in front of Shelley, I thought the previous London date was better in terms of sound, his vocals were kind of drowned out during stuff like Death Valley Blues. I thought Shelley's vocals on Strange Religion were pretty admirable, she's got a good voice. All in all I preferred the Brighton gig because it seemed so closed off and personal. The only thing missing was Shelley.

BUT... shelley was great. and mark obviously agrees, since he hired her to stand out front, alongside him… shelley had the balls to get up there and sing alongside someone who's voice is a thing that people rave on and on and on about... she took abuse from people, many of them women, who claimed she was there because of the way she looked (way to go with the female solidarity, ladies!) i hope this post is too long for anyone to bother reading it. I’m totally open to understanding that maybe venue sound quality was poor or she was having an off night on the particular nights when people say her voice wasn’t that good, which is probably what is really going on here and why people think that her voice may not be that hot while others say it’s good. BUT… more importantly, I was just trying to give justice to some of the ladies here. Female solidarity at its best, eh! And, yah, females usually band together but just the same, we can be catty as hell to each other! I’m glad now that I never said anything about Shelley’s stage outfits. I would have really gotten flack for that. Dude, you seriously write novellas when you’re on the board! I like it though. ;D
