sunday night at leeds was amazing.. first mc5 has mark arm as guest singer, then mr lanegan sang with mondo generator, then finally the mark lanegan band ended the carling stage weekend. played for about 55 minutes, a good set list, lots from the new album. i was right at the front but the barrier was a couple of metres from the stage and the band had very little lighting on them. got a few pictures, don't know how they'll turn out but i'll post them when i get them back. i just wish that the rest of the tour dates were not so far south, or i'd be at them all!

leeds setlist:
When you number isn't up Hit the city Wedding dress Creeping coastline of lights No easy action Miracle Sideways in reverse One way street Come to me Driving death valley blues I'll take care of you Skeletal history Methamphetamine blues
Encore: band intro Sleep with me Fix
it was indeed a wicked set and the whole band seemed like they were really up for it. mark apparently got longer than billed at leeds because there was some cock-up at reading. the stage he was playing on were running late and he only got 25 minutes as a result. he was not amused.
let's hope milton keynes is as good tonight.

that's a shame about reading. the wildhearts said their equipment wasn't working at reading. sounds like leeds was the best place to be! enjoy milton keynes.. i am so jealous!

I was at the Reading Festival gig and the problem occured in the soundcheck between the generator and lanegan gigs. Why they couldnt have just used the same equipment when lanegan came on to sing autopilot and in the fade for generator and oliveri came on to jointly sing methamphetamine blues to close the lanegan set I don't know.
The delay really seemed to piss off lanegan who didnt get on stage till 11.15 at the earliest.
The fun ensued later at just after 11.30 when the white stripes had finished so a security supervisor instructed lanegan to play one more song then vacate the carling stage (well obviously I couldnt hear but thats my guess)
I was right at the front to see mark then shove the security guy across the stage and the band continue on for another 4 songs. How could they have the nerve to have equipment that cut his set, then not let the band stay on pass the 11.30 curfew. However, unlike kasabian on friday night who played 1 more song then left, the lanegan band continued on which suprises me they were granted a longer set at leeds because the security guy didnt reemerge till the band had left the stage.
As he left mark threw his mic stand then stormed off only to come back on the stage again with oliveri to have a go at the same security supervisor to by now a huge crowd as all the other stages had closed.
aggravating at first but still as always an entertaining performance from the mark lanegan band

sounds entertaining but disappointing... i would have been gutted to have had the set cut short, and as i'm sure seeing mark angry would only make him more attractive to me, i'm glad i didn't go for the sake of my mental health as for the rasmus and fifty cent being bottled off.. reading wouldn't be reading without bottles of piss being thrown at bands! anyone remember daphne and celeste?

I went to see the stripes at reading as my mates would'nt have it any other way. And now after seeing the man at islington I think I made a bad choice. The white stripes were good though, I still enjoyed it.

Do you think mark will be doing glastonbury, reading or v festival next year?
I seem to be the only one up - its 02.43 am. Why do people feel the need to sleep when it gets dark? Feel like im chattin' to m'self here.
