i'm a clipper fan with the suns as my backup, so my season is over but i'm still watching the playoffs in hopes i will be watching the game the very moment that kobe breaks his leg and is out of the game forever. I was a Clippers fan for years, until I finally decided that they had a terminal disease, which could only be cured by an owner transplant. you should come back. they are as shitty a team as they ever have been. but with better players!!! and they are all on the bench!!! go clippers!! seriously though, i have been a clipper fan my whole life, and two years ago was the happiest time in my life....we cctually made it into the second round. but that all ended. you really have to be in for the long haul when you are a clipper fan....i've been waiting 40 years, and i'm prepared to wait another 40. and fuck the lakers. and fuck kobe with a red hot poker. yeah!!!!!

I like the clippers just because they are not the lakers the more i think about it that's actually a pretty good reason on it's own. but elton brand and corey magette are also pretty good reasons.

Can we all agree that the Dodgers suck? they suck now, but they didn't in the 80's. perhaps they will not suck in the 2010's?

On the field they were good, but as an organization they sucked. I swear to God, Lasorda is the biggest piece of shit to ever walk on this earth. He's still pissed that the Dodgers sent him to the A's so they would have room to bring up Sandy Koufax. Yeah, Tommy, you have room to talk with your 0-2 record. Shut the fuck up and get the fuck out ofc baseball you worthless sack of shit. /rant. I was at the Clippers game when they clinched the birth into the second round. Sitting at the very top. Very cool experience.

It's Rabbit's Nose time again - Manchester United play West Ham in the last home game of the season. Tied on points with Chelsea (but with a vastly superior goal difference), it's all a bit nervy - especially as Chelsea (the only team to officially moan about having to play two games close together) have managed to wangle another long break between games and don't play until Monday night...
EDIT: Yay! PFA (and now also Sports Writers') Player of the year* Cristiano Ronaldo notches up goal number 39, and I can stop hovering. For now. EDIT again: Number 40.
*Curiously, only 2nd to Cesc Fabregas in the Young Player of the year, even though he beat the also-shortlisted Fabregas to the other two gongs.

Nani = stupid, stupid bastard. Pathetic comedy "ooh, I'm hurt as well" reaction...
What a strange game this is. Dean Ashton injured, and couldn't be replaced until half time because Carlton Cole managed to (and this is incredibly stupid, even for a footballer) forgot to put a shirt on.
All in all, an embarrassingly easy 4-1 victory that could have been so much more if anyone was really bothered. So, if Chelsea beat Newcastle 1-0 on Monday and we beat Wigan by 1-0 next Sunday, Chelsea will neat to beat Bolton Wanderers by 21 clear goals to win the Premiership.

Nightmare for Bournemouth AFC today - they had won the last 6 consecutive games in a mega attempt to avoid relegation from League 1*, but managed to only draw the final game. So it's off they pop...
*Due to various rebrandings of the Football League over the years to make it all look sexier than it actually is, Division 1 is now known as the Premier League, Division 2 is now known as the Championship, and Division 3 and 4 are now League 1 and 2 respectively

Getting rather bored with all the cobblers being thrown about regarding the final Premiership weekend of the season.
Everyone's ragging on Wigan Athletic, suggesting that they might not try very hard at home against Manchester United as they have nothing to play for (stopping just short of match-fixing allegations) - even though beatuing United will mean an extra £2million in prize money, yet nobody's lumping the same pressure on Bolton, who have even less to play for as they can only be relegated by losing by a massive margin to Chelsea and two of the sides below them winning by even larger scores.
I can't wait until Sunday.

Interestingness! How the Premier League table would look if every major decision in every game played this season had been got right by the referees. Should shut Mr. Grant (who's been gobbing off again today) up nicely

interesting......
Through the first quarter of the season, youth-dominated teams in the bottom 10 rung of the payroll ladder are outperforming the money-hoarding, veteran-laden 10 teams in the top layer.
Through Sunday's games, the bottom 10 — from the Marlins at $21 million to the Texas Rangers at $67 million — are a combined 17 games over .500. The top 10 — from the Yankees at $209 million to the Atlanta Braves at $102 million — are nine games over.
That's an eight-game gap (just a few days ago it was 18, but the wealthy teams have rallied). Even more startling, it's a $79 million gap between the average top 10 payrolls of $131 million and average bottom 10 payrolls of $52 million.

so anyway... a bit late, but... if someone had offered me 6th place in the premiership back in August last year, with the smallest squad in the country and after finishinf 11th the previous year and 16th the year before... i would've happily taken it.
as for next season, well.. quickly confirm that we're keeping Barry and all will be well, but at the moment it is undermining our chances of signing any decent players. who'd want to join a club that are selling their best player??

Off out to the pub now to watch the Champions' League Final.
Gonna be a tricky one for me, this - last time Man Utd were in the final was 1999, and my Dad (who was at the 1968 Final) was - to put it bluntly and sadly - on his way out. So I'll probably spend most of the evening thinking of him and missing him.
