he's a secret agent for the CIA, playing gigs by night, snooping around embasies by day...
think about it. it makes sense.

he loves europe. which is nice for us europeans. plus it makes a change from all the US bands who only come here once in a blue moon, play one show in each country - if you're lucky - and then don't come back again for years.

well, ahem, I only know a bit of german I finally figured out that your name is (something with) Dag. Another member signs his posts with Dag cus it means goodbye (+hello). so now you're my Mutti! Sweet! And I think it's very cool that my Mutti is into such cool music. When I get to be your age (you may slap me now) I hope I still be listening to great music. What's on Closure? I couldn't find it so I'm waiting for the DVD. Extra's, yay, always good! Can't wait to at least get a releasedate for "Bleedthrough", cus then you get something to look forward to. Sorry for the long silence, was busy... But, hey, Mark is coming back! Is that cool or is that cool?! I hope I can go to another of the dates, would be great. I just have to find someone to come along as I hate going to gigs alone. Mutti?! Okay, okay, I asked for it... Yes, Dag is (part of) my name. Someone told me Dag is Day in Danish. I'd rather be called Night, but what can you do! :-) No, I won't slap you! Just keep doing your thing and don't let anyone tell you you're too old for anything and should become more responsible and stuff. I refuse to grow up! Closure is the double video with live and backstage pictures and all the videos up to A Perfect Drug (my favourite). Will be nice to have it all on DVD.

(hahahaa I should stop calling you mutti immediately) Yeah, isn't it awesome that Mark's coming back to Europe?! Not in my wildest dreams did I see this happening. I'm gonna buy my ticket this Saturday.. I really hope that everyone here gets to see Mark perform this tour. *keeps fingers & toes crossed* You should drag someone along if you can't find anyone who knows Mark's music. They'll thank you forever. I brought someone to Mark's gig in Utrecht and although he'd never heard any of the cd's, he really loved the show. Who wouldn't get blown away by Mark's voice?!! I hate to disappoint you but Dag also means day in holland. BUT; it also means hello *and* goodbye. So there's no need to frown, my name doesn't have a meaning methinks and yours has so many Refusing to grow up. hmm and there I was thinking I should grow old gracefully. Okay, that's a no no. ;D "Keep on rocking in the weelchair!" (Nobody rip this idea now, ya hear!) Ow cool! Can't wait to get my hands on a copy of Closure. I think me and my friends have watched AATCHB too many times on Saturdaynights, we could do with a change of view on Trent. It gets kinda boring cus no matter how drunk we are, we all know exactly when Trent is looking very tasty. new material is needed.. desperately. thank god we don't have to wait much longer. The dvd should be in stores this fall it said on the site ;D Does it have Into The Void??

BTW, Mark is even older than me, and he's damn cool, so we should stop talking about age I guess. (I know, I brought it up myself.) Yes, I see hope, I may have found someone to come along in November, so I'm probably seeing Mark twice this year! YEAH!! I call that poetic justice, cos the only other gig I saw of him solo was that infamous London Astoria gig in 2001. No, Into The Void won't be on that Closure DVD, it's too new. UNLESS Trent is a nice boy and put more videos on this compilation, but I guess they would have said that to promote it. But you'll like it, some very tasty bits on this videos and shows...

This has been bugging me for a while. On the website you see a couple of clips of rehearsals in Trent's house (?) and they're supposed to be found on Still. I know Still is a bonus disc for AATCHB, but is it really a DVD or CD-rom or gwhat?! I have the DVD but I can easily twist my friend's arm to buy the deluxe cd package if it has those clips!! Edit: "including 90 minutes of new footage"

Edit: "including 90 minutes of new footage" Still is a normal CD, no videos on it, but with what I think the best new songs and versions on it Trent has ever made. Very acoustic, mostly just him on piano and a bass or guitar player along. Some of these songs could reduce me to tears. *sigh* Just like the songs of another person, what's his name, I think this board is about him... And did I mention this person will be playing in Germany in November the SECOND time this year!?! I'm so excited!

Shitze!! If you check nin.com/visuals and then "live studio performance" you can see footage of when they recorded those songs.I especially love Gone, Still beautiful.. a definite must see video.
Ooh and that other dude, what's his name?? Well, good to hear that you get to see him again. Goody! You've seen him before right? What are your live favorites? Mine are Fix, Like Little Willie John and Resurrection Song.

Mine are Fix, Like Little Willie John and Resurrection Song. Yeah, I've seen the vids on the site, love them. And "Gone, Still" is my fave song on Still, along with "and all that could have been". The name, let me think... something like Mike Linneman or so? I loved "Wedding Dress" and "I'll Take Care Of You" at the last gig in Köln, but he'd really make my day if he sang "Carry Home" next time, and maybe "Death Don't Have No Mercy", but as I understand his current liveband is limited to about 25 songs, they haven't rehearsed more. But I don't care what he sings, and if it was his shopping list, I just love his voice. I'll go to Frankfurt in November with a colleague I got hooked to Mark's music. He couldn't come along in August, so he's eager to go now.

In Bochum rumhängen? Oha..

Times flies...
Ambassador Theatre, Dublin, 23 November 2004
We all went, a load of friends and colleagues. Drinks and spliffs. Great old theatre, former cinema. I saw The Empire Strikes Back & Return of the Jedi there. Saw Lanegan with QOTSA there on SFTD tour 2002. Fuck yeah. I've some photos from that show.
But 2004. Bubblegum era. High tide mark, which had been building with the double shot of Field Songs and QOTSA. But still, Lanegan was fairly niche, right? Shelley was touring with him, tho I'd no idea who she was apart from hot tattooed singer. My male gaze, OK? This gig was around the third or fourth time Lanegan had played in Dublin since 2001 (cracking gig in Whelan's with Gene Trautmann, Mike Johnson, Dave Catching and Bret Netson). Like Jeff Buckley, David Gray and many others before, Ireland embraced Lanegan as one of their own. And dare I say, for many years I bragged to anyone that if my partner ever could make it with Mark Lanegan, then she had my full blessing, for he t'would ne'er have me... lol.
I recall a very low-key Nick Oliveri on rhythm guitar who joined during the tour. Think it was just after he got canned from QOTSA. I imagine Lanegan wanted to give the dude something to do and get out of LA a while (tho there was originally another guitarist, Michael _____(?) who left the tour...).
The Ambassador was a dark venue with a big balcony with seats, and a cleared sloping floor down to the raised stage with red curtains. We got fairly close to the front, centre, alongside the usual friendly Irish Lanegan fans. Just a great wide range of people and ages. Cool heads, digging the tunes. Ask any artist who knows: Irish audiences have been traditionally known as some of the best crowds in the world. I've seen many bands receive a huge wave of adoration, turn to themselves and say "shit, let's up our game for these guys!".
The Irish crowd were hip to the Dark Mark stage persona that Lanegan ably affected. We digged it. We like that dark evil shit. But being cheeky fuckers too, we also wanted to make Mark break character and laugh, which we did at some point in-between a song. One of us yelled out something funny, something very "Dublin", and Mark cracked a big grin, turning his head down and away so we couldn't see him giggle. "Aha! Gotcha Lanegan! Not so tough now! WE LOVE YOU!" kinda stuff. Good fun. Good gig. Making Lanegan laugh. Yup.
Anyone of the Irish gang on here remember Mark laughing? x
