I love the story behind this photo: "Meeting him was great, though he was a bit grumpy at first. He lightened up once I asked him to do the Egyptian. He couldn't tell if I was serious. He told me he wouldn't do it even for his own mother, but he eventually gave in, laughing."I asked him to do something as well which he said he couldnt do but after some cajoling he came thru :-) he is such a sweet man!!

I always thought he was born aged & weathered....look how little! analuisa, how do you find these? There's a Brazilian forum about Lanegan on Orkut (a kind of Facebook). A girl posted the link there.

I talked to him after Shepherd's gig. When he saw me, he immediately said in a bashful voice: "You changed the hair". ;D The last time he had seen me I was blonde (in fact, the second-to-last time I was blonde. Well, he's really a man: only notices a woman hair change lately, ahaha). I was so surprised! So I asked him..."And....is it good?" He, shy again: "It's okay" Lovely guy.

Now I'm really curious Analuisa - how far apart were these meetings? And how many times total? I'm just wondering how good his memory is. I don't think I'd want to be recognized if I ever met him again!

Haha, thanks, chapeuzinho. I can say that he got a HUGE patience. Last year, at Scala in London, I begged: "Mark, please, come back to Sao Paulo this year". He: "Ow...I'm trying...". "Really?" "I'm trying"..."Serious?"...."I'm trying"...."Do you promise me?" "I'm trying"..."Oh, please...try!"...."I''m trying"...
I think I made the poor man answer "I'm trying" for at least six or seven times, ahaha. And everytime he was gentle and thoughtful.

I forgot to thank BeyondthePale for including the quote of the story behind that picture. I'd been wondering about his pose - was he saying "Oh, look at my little fan! Why, she's only this tall!" (snort)

I get this strange visual reminiscent of Eddie Murphy's Gumby on SNL ... "I'm Grumpy, dammit!"

Any idea what it says in the smaller letters at the bottom? I can make out some but not all.

Despite our efforts to cheer him up, Mark's......just wasn't ..... a game of Humpty Dumpty
Something like that--presumably because he's sitting on a wall--but I can't make out what it says after Mark so that the context makes sense.

"Despite our efforts to cheer him up, Mark's heart just wasn't in for a game of Humpty Dumpty."
And I'm terrible for what I did in Photoshop!

hmmm, am i wrong or is the third one andy wood? I don't think that's Andy, I think his face was rounder and pudgier. (I miss Landrew the Love God!) But then, I'm taking it on faith that mark Lanegan is in those pictures, I can't tell it's him.
