I'd love to see them again, but it wouldn't be the end of the world if I can't get tickets.
I saw them twice last year in Chicago. Once at the Vic Theatre, and once at Lollapalooza. They were good, but I was disappointed in the crowds, especially at the Vic Theatre where tickets were only available to soundgardenworld.com members. I expected a lot of moshing and crowd surfing and stuff like that but people were just standing around.
Hopefully things will be different in here Philly, where we're known for getting a little rowdy.

Well, we all are getting older and more arthritic every day, but I fully intend to move a bit in Toronto. ;D I am pretty psyched!

Yeah, I saw them at Lolla last year too. Some of my friends got into the Vic show, but I wasn't so lucky.
I can vouch that the people I knew at both shows were definitely not standing around!

I paid 200 bucks to a guy who won the Vic ticket lottery for his extra ticket. That's how I got into the Vic show. It was bit of a disappointment to be honest, for the reasons I mentioned above. I go to shows for the atmosphere, and there really wasn't one.
BTW, just bought a couple tix to the Philly show through ticketmaster. Stargazer, if you still haven't gotten on it, you better hurry!

I got 'em! I'm in Portland right now so I had to force myself to get up on time.
The week of the SG show is going to be crazy. That show is Wed.,U2 is Thursday and I'm going to see APC twice that weekend.

I LOVE those kind of weeks! ;D
What do you guys think of Mars Volta? I've had friends recommend them, but I haven't given them any time yet. Guess I better try them, although I don't think they have officially announced them as the opener for my show.

I love the Mars Volta, though some do consider them an acquired taste. I started with Frances the Mute, but any of their albums will give you a good idea of what they're like. I thought they were n an indefinite hiatus, what with Omar Rodriguez Lopez so busy with his Nuevo Grupo de ..., but if they're going back into action, I'd love to see them.
I just piddled around on Facebook and according to the Soundgarden page, TMV will be opening in Philly, Denver and LA.

yeah, I guess they will be in Europe for this SG show. I'd like no opener, unless of course, the opener was Mark or a Mark collaboration. ;D I wish Ottawa was closer to TO and $ was no option: www.ottawabluesfest.ca/

Just hold out for NXNE in Toronto instead... And I'm going to have to side with mongo here. Not big on the Mars Volta. I like ~2min of one of their songs, which happens to be 13 minutes long. So essentially, I don't like any of their music. Talented, yes, and they'll probably put on a great live show that even a grouch like me would enjoy

Chris is rough in spots but always was past 91. It sounds pretty fucking awesome to my ears though. I forgot how much I loved some of their music. Me too. Especially Slaves and Bulldozers. Helter Skelter is even better than I thought it would be. Glad I bought it! ;D

Guess I better try them, although I don't think they have officially announced them as the opener for my show. I do too. Only thing is I wish one of those shows was in a small, intimate venue. U2 is in a football stadium. I haven't seen a show in a stadium since GnR, back in the 80s. After that week, I am going to swear off larger venues for a while. I haven't listened to the Mars Volta in a very long time. I remember liking them, but the singer's voice is definitely an acquired taste. I think they'll be a good opener for SG though. Now I have to see if their cd is loaded in my itunes.

I hear you. I am so selective about large venue shows. Big mobs of people freak me out. A friend of mine just went to one of those Cornell shows and said it was incredible. I need more details, but I am fairly certain there were no dancers.

Thanks for these! I went to 2 CC solo shows and can definitely vouch for no back up dancers. Both shows were amazing, emotional rollercoasters for me. Awesome setlists. I can't wait to see SG again for a different trip down memory lane!

Chris Cornell can sing the shit out of just about anything (Reach Down, anyone?). I have great respect for his talent, and for all of the freakin' awesome music Soundgarden made. I'm just a little disgusted by the greed they're displaying now - there's no other reason for $70 and up tickets.

i have no problem shelling out 70 bucks supporting a band/artist i love. i'm not sure what most concerts go for, but when you look at something like tickets to a Blue Jays game, a Maple Leafs game or a Raptors game, is 70 bucks to see Cornell solo in Toronto really that much?
From what i've read, these songbook shows (which aren't soundgarden shows) are worth every penny and go for over 2 hours.
music's one thing i enjoy, so i'm not going to get caught up on whether a concert ticket is 70 bucks or 50 bucks... if i like it, it doesn't really matter.
