he died a happy man, hopefully I will be lucky enough to have someone like you when my time comes, its amazing the perspective things like this put on your life, all the things you believe to be important are just a waste of time, love is all that matters, love overcomes all....he died a proud and lucky man!
I give you all my best and now the hard part starts for you, I am here for ya anytime you wanna talk. Take care !

I'm so sorry. Having been a lurker here more than a participant, I don't know any of you well, but Lungsey, your posts about your husband and your struggles have been full of strength and inspiration. The words grace and dignity also come to mind. My heart goes out to you.

Lungsey: i hope you find solace in these words.....
Box Of Rain Lyrics By: Robert Hunter Music By: Phil Lesh
Look out of any window Any morning, any evening, any day Maybe the sun is shining Birds are winging, no rain is falling from a heavy sky What do you want me to do To do for you to see you through? For this is all a dream we dreamed one afternoon long ago
Walk out of any doorway Feel your way like the day before Maybe you'll find direction Around some corner where it's been waiting to meet you What do you want me to do To watch for you while you're sleeping? Then please don't be surprised when you find me dreaming too
Look into any eyes You find by you; you can see clear to another day Maybe been seen before Through other eyes on other days while going home What do you want me to do To do for you to see you through? It's all a dream we dreamed one afternoon long ago
Walk into splintered sunlight Inch your way through dead dreams to another land Maybe you're tired and broken Your tongue is twisted with words half spoken and thoughts unclear What do you want me to do To do for you, to see you through? A box of rain will ease the pain and love will see you through
Just a box of rain, wind and water Believe it if you need it, if you don't just pass it on Sun and shower, wind and rain In and out the window like a moth before a flame
And it's just a box of rain, I don't know who put it there Believe it if you need it or leave it if you dare And it's just a box of rain, or a ribbon for your hair Such a long, long time to be gone and a short time to be there

My deepest condolences Lungsey. He'll always be with you. I know life isn't fair but there is still good in this world, either for you to spread or to appreciate yourself. Keep hope alive, the only thing more precious in this world is love and we all know you already have plenty of that. We're here for you. Bless your heart.

My heartfelt condolences Lungsey. Having had two friends lose their husbands to cancer in their late 40's over the past five years, I can say that eventually it will get better. You will have good days when you can draw on your strength and happy memories, and you will have days when you call a friend in tears because it's just all too much to bear. But as the months and years pass, the bad days will lessen and all the good memories will remain.
*hugs*

The Irish poet & philosopher John O'Donohoue (1956-2008) says it better than I ever could:
"Gradually, you will learn acquaintance With the invisible form of your departed; And when the work of grief is done, The wound of loss will heal And you will have learned To wean your eyes From that gap in the air And be able to enter the hearth In your soul where your loved one Has awaited your return All the time."
