does anyone in seattle know a cool place close to the venue we can hang out at before the show? Sadly, I don't. I don't go there much since I moved away from the area eight years ago. It's pretty much smack in the middle of the University District, which is not enjoying a renaissance (the opposite is happening, a lot of closures), but at least the Frat contingent should be diminished. There are bars, but I couldn't recommend any of them (the only one I thought was decent has changed hands since I was there last, so I'm not too sure about it anymore, can't even remember the new name). Some little restaurants here and there, the Thaiger Room is tiny but they have yummy food. It might be a good idea for those of you who're meeting up to pick a corner to gather at, and take a stroll. Most of the businesses in the area are right there on University Way (The Neptune is less than a block off this main drag, at NE 45th, the other "main" street of the neighborhood). If the weather is decent, and you like a little bit of walking, you'll probably find a suitable place pretty easily. That's my take, anyway. This seems to be pretty up-to-date, and mentions some of the places that are off the main drag that you might like (usually only a block off the Ave). It just needs a map. wikitravel.org/en/Seattle/University_DistrictCome to think of it, as far as eats, Taste of India / Cedars has been raved about by quite a few people I know (I've just never eaten there, don't know why ...). The old Earl's on the Ave (bar) was where I used to hang out with friends and get very drunk and play pool. It moved down the street and the vibe changed, less harmless geezers, more frats. Still has the cheap drunk reputation, though.

I'll be headed over after work, so I won't get to the UDistrict til probably near 7, or later, depending on which ferry I can catch. :/ BAH, WORK.

That may be because STG is headquartered in Downtown? Trust me, the Neptune is in the University District, I've seen many movies there back in the day, and I used to work at the Pagliacci Pizzeria that's around the corner and down the block from it.

I'm supposed to be clearing out my lab tomorrow. But then I have to fill out some paperwork a 2.5h commute away. So, I use the paperwork excuse to avoid the lab, and actually do the paperwork today, then sneak off tomorrow morning.
I'm pretty broke (Stanley Cup playoffs have not been kind to my wallet, nor has the woman). So while I'll probably be wandering Seattle glossy-eyed all afternoon, I'll have to scrimp. I'll be there sometime early afternoon if all goes well.

I think I'll be on the bus arriving at ~3pm at the main Greyhound stop, not the Amtrak. I'll either update later/tomorrow, or text you tomorrow when I actually figure it out. I've had so much to do at work this week I'm just going on the fly with this.

Mark WAS magnificent ;D ;D ;D. I didn't take any piccies, the set list was much the same as LA's except we got Hangin' Tree instead of BJL. Mark did the meet and greet after the show, MAN was that line LONG! And there was Mark, smiling for the cameras, greeting everybody, and personalizing the things we presented for him to sign. (My name is somewhat more legible on my Voxhall cd than his is ). I really enjoyed Sean Wheeler and Zander Schloss, too - they even did a rendition of Spiritual (which Mark sang on the first record he did with Soulsavers, I add that so you know I mean thatSpiritual). And I didn't buy up the whole merch table, I was surprised.
