So this is something I need to share..... I will actually sticky this! Today brought me the best thing since my husband Rob passed away 4,5 months ago. Life has been a huge struggle, I keep finding myself sobbing on the kitchen floor, there's days when i am not quite sure how to get back up on my feet, missing my Rob, not even registering the fact my mum-in-law died a few weeks before he did, taking care of my Alzheimer dad-in-law, coming to terms with a life that feels not worth living half the time.... And this shows up through UPS:    LMFAO! Who said this community is about negative emotions & endless bickering? I want everyone to know this board is about International Connections, about people looking out for eachother, friendships that form from across oceans, taking care of others that have a rough time of it. This card was started on april 1st 2011, when Rob was still alive and my Owie-friends decided to make us feel better. I am sure Rob would have gotten a massive kick out of it! Here's the path of travelling these cards made:   So THANK YOU Foz for making all of this possible!!! And THANK YOU Seattle Show crew for getting Lanegan to scribble all over the first card. That is fucking brilliant. I understand there's been enormous efforts on many parts to get this thing done. Don't anyone say we are a sour group of people! This is what friendship is, this is what is pulling me through. I love you peeps!!! xxxx |

I often go back to this thread to look at the cards. Makes me feel all warm and fuzzy thinking about everyone's good vibes to you. Which was better than the vomity butterflies I felt after sending off the first card on its journey, hoping and praying to Jebus that some nutjob postal worker wouldn't lose it (and the card haha) on the job.

Thank you hun.... it's now been 6 months  time has a habit of falling away from me. That Owie-card is just about the best thing that's happened to me since may 9th. I have it in a frame now, photocopied the back of the page with stamps and stuff on it and glued the original stamps back on. I can't post pics here anymore, my ftp thingie isn't working. Rob knew everything there is to know about computers, i just type stuff. Can't get it to work..... but i'll put up a pic when i can. The frame is totally cool and yes, i do look at it an awful lot and it always puts a smile on my face  Those cards were really tricky to get sent round the world. I now know much more about all the trouble peeps went through to get it as cool as it is. The cards overcame a postal strike in Canada, several arrivals in the nick of time for people to be able to sign it, worries and a lot of hard work to get Lanegan to sign it which is uber-cool let's face it, some people overcoming personal problems in order to get the cards from one person to the next, UPS-travels on 2 occaissions and so on. This is what friendship is all about. I cannot believe my very own sister (and apart from my mum my only relative) has not been bothered to call me, write me or do anything else which remotely resembles any form of condolance - and here you lot are, my cyber-family, looking after me so much better than my own flesh and bl00d. In-fuckin-credible! |

I don't wander over here to this side at all and I miss out on knowing/seeing a lot of things like this because I am here for the Lanegan content mainly until I see this....
I am so sorry for your loss. That card is great. The fact that these people some of whom I have known by name at least (when they are not changing them all of the time) for over a decade were thinking of you and did this for you is very telling. This site is very cool. Many of the people on here are cool and genuine which is a big plus in my book.
If you need a hug or support or just a place to spout of it is great to have this place.
I hope you are able to find a time where life is worth living all of the time even if it is not easy.
You are not alone.
