And I wonder what mimie meant with the card game being close to Mark's universe. I'm seriously intrigued by that. In fact I think I'm just totally ouf of my mind I play Magic The Gathering myself, and there are a lot of religious references, and mythic creatures like the Leviathan, and gravediggers, etc... So when I first read the song titles, I just can't help but thinking about this universe. But even if Mark looks like the kind of guy who may stay at home and play cards, he is probably a bit old for all that stuff, not his generation! ;-) The likely explanation is simply that the songs and Magic the Gathering are referencing the same sources, much older than either. Magic the Gathering certainly didn't invent those images and ideas. It, as I recall, is HIGHLY directive of mythology and religion.

(Speaking of mythological and religious overtones, Tiny Grain Of Truth seems pretty "esoteric" too)

There are very funny questions...but I think he'll answer only questions about BF. After all, it's a promo video of the album, not exactly an interview by fans, about several and different matters.
Raeni, am I wrong?

i think analuisa you are right, but it probably doesn't hurt to ask.....and technically you cuold edit any questions that aren't bllues funeral related and phrase it in a blues-funeral-lly way.
...maybe it will make more work for raeni though to go through and delete the questions that aren't blues funeral related.

I agree. I think Raeni will send all the questions about any matter. And I believe that Mark will read all these questions, and smile, laugh, etc. But maybe he'll answer only the questions related to the album.

It, as I recall, is HIGHLY directive of mythology and religion. I definitely agree with you, I just want to know if Mark knows about Magic. It's still a question related with Blues Funeral (at least, a little )

I don't like to edit things out of questions - I'd rather just send in everything you guys ask, as is, and let him decide what he'd like to answer. I was asked to post for questions about the album, specifically, but it's always possible he'd answer something else. But I was hoping there won't be TOO many unrelated or overly smart-assed things to wade through.

It's not easy to elaborate very specific questions about BF when we only had the chance to listen to Gravedigger's Song and Harborview Hospital (and this one, thanks to a leak - otherwise we would know just one song). I'm sure the questions would be much more interesting if we could listen to the whole record before the release. Onewhiskey deserves a pre-listening. ;D

actually analuisa I've been able to hear 3 song's from the new album...go to the iTunes store and you'll see "The Gravedigger's Song" single has a second song that you can buy seperately...it's a remake version of "Burning Jacob's Ladder". I personally like the Rage Video Game Sdtrk version better. The cool part about the newer version is the harmonizing in the middle of the song with Mark and Alain Johannes...Alain is fucking sick at harmonizing and he has been such an essential factor to that undescribable QOTSA sound...very QOTSA of them. Queens has always killed it with the vocal harmonizin'...u have to listen closely but you'll hear Mark in alot of harmonies on many of the QOTSA albums.

Burning Jacob's Ladder isn't on Blues Funeral. We already have the track listing, it's probably up in several threads.

Second questions not allowed. One per person. Being as you're from Brazil, you technically shouldn't receive any questions.
mod edit: this post was moved and was in the question thread in reply to analuisa's post. Please read on.

My second question: Ana Luisa, São Paulo, Brazil: Once you said, in an interview about Bubblegum, a couple of touching phrases about your songs that I particularly love and never forgot: "...luckily, some people can connect to this shit, this music, that aren't junkies. But I always figured that I was making this music for my own people." Nowadays, you're clean, healthy and seem happy and in peace with yourself. Have you made Blues Funeral still thinking about or inspired by those people whose feelings you understood so well in the past? Do you still feel connect to them, somehow, and even still able to translate their anguish in your songs? Can I just say that I love this question^ and that i think Cockboydeluxejr is an asshole for saying what he did in regard to annaluisa's post in the other thread? <--Oh i guess I just did. While I never shot up, smoked, or snorted anything, I have been around people that do, and really appreciate the lack of glamorization in Mark's music. As i guess he said, some people can connect to the reality via his songs.

Or a joke (that I don't get)? Can somebody please explain? And I think Analuisa's question (that this is referring to) is a really good one.
