I don't know any more than the IMDB page but I'm actually reading the book right now and it's highly enjoyable. Seems like a good book for a Nick Cave written adaptation directed by John Hillcoat. Though I tried to avoid the cast-list, what I did sneek a peek at seemed like good choices.

Other than hearing an interview with Mark where he corrected the interviewer when the guy called it "Wettest Country," no, not herd much yet except that it was done.

I am so fucking excited about this project, where do I even begin? Cave and Ellis do amazing scores - their compilation of music from various film scores, White Lunar, has been on my heavy rotation list for the last few years - and Cave and Hillcoat's collaboration on The Proposition produced one of my most enjoyable movie experiences of the last few years. Plus the story's setting is Franklin County, Virginia - right in my backyard (though it's too bad it seems it was mostly filmed in Georgia). And if you've ever driven through Franklin County, as I have, the wild, remote, eerie, and beautiful qualities--total Southern Gothic--are apparent even before you add in the story of bootlegging during the Depression. I mean, Franklin County is part of the stretch of Virginia between Roanoke and the North Carolina border, and driving 220 down through there, you feel like you've driven off the map--eerie pine trees, towns frozen in time, abandoned houses... it's clear that things that happen in this stretch of country, happen off the radar. Not too much of a stretch to imagine a Wild West sort of lawlessness there, especially during Prohibition. Even if Mark wasn't involved on any level, I would already be peeing in the floor with excitement like a small dog, but add Mark?

Well, all I knew from stumbling upon this information just a month or two ago was that it is slated for release this summer. From the Wikipedia page for the book: Sounds like Nick Cave territory to me! ;D Wikipedia said the movie is set for release on August 31, 2012. In the meantime, I should read the book! I may go for a drive through Franklin County as things start to bloom, I can take some photos or video to share if I do

Really great news for me. I love the previous collaborations of John Hillcoat and the Nick Cave / Warren Ellis duo. "The Proposition" and "The Road" belong to my most favorite movies of the recent years. The soundtrack of Cave and Ellis were really great; as well as in "The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford". Really dark and touching movies with the exact adequate music. The trailer of "Lawless" seems really nice. Ok, I need to admit that I am a huge fan of the Gangster genre. And a collaboration of Cave and Lanegan always was a kind of dream. I really hope the news is true.

The news of Mark collaborating with Nick and Warren on some of the songs for the soundtrack for this film? It's definitely true.

Trailer/movie looks great, only huge downside to me is the casting of Shia LeBouf (sp?). I'm sorry but I can't stand that kid. Rest of the cast is f'in solid!

the trailer looks great! but Shia LaBeuf? Really? And Yes, Gary Oldman and Guy Pierce in the same movie, with soundtrack by Nick Cave/Warren Ellis and Mark is almost too much! i love the soundtrack Cave and Ellis did for the proposition, it was perfect. Their score for The Road was very subdued, but then again that movie is also very quiet to begin with. For the Lawless score now, my guess would be something way more energetic - Gravedigger song comes to mind, or maybe something like the link at the bottom. I saw Nick Cave and Warren Ellis/the Bad Seeds live at the Hollywood Bowl (Cave's Dig!Lazarus!Dig! tour) - highly recommend seeing them. Love the Dirty Three to bits (Warren Ellis/Jim White/Mike Turner). unfortunately they don't tour much, other than the occasional festival appearance. here they are in action (4, with Nick): www.youtube.com/watch?v=J1TUgD8kG4o

I saw Nick Cave and Warren Ellis/the Bad Seeds live at the Hollywood Bowl (Cave's Dig!Lazarus!Dig! tour) - highly recommend seeing them. Saw them on that same tour in New York, NY. Nick Cave held my hand and sang to me! ;D That was a fucking amazing show, the level of energy, humor, intensity, was off the charts. Made me wish I'd gotten a chance to see Grinderman live. Love the Dirty Three to bits (Warren Ellis/Jim White/Mike Turner). unfortunately they don't tour much, other than the occasional festival appearance. They are playing the All Tomorrow's Parties "I'll Be Your Mirror" festival in Atlantic City, NJ, in September 2012 this year. Greg Dulli is "curating" the Saturday, September 22 lineup, which includes the Mark Lanegan Band, the Afghan Whigs, Dirty Three, The Antlers, and Louis C.K.! I already have my ticket
