Just when we were coming out of coronavirus, things easing up and seemingly under control, easing I n NY for me in particular & I suppose in the country & the globe in general, Bam 💥 ! Like a powder keg. The murder in Minneapolis, Minnesota of George Floyd by police officer (now ex- police officer) Derek Cauvin, unleashes protests- peaceful, violent, looting.... - across the country and spreads across the world. Civil Rights 2.0 A call to consciousness. Has had me listening (again) to this song youtu.be/kOSkL_5cYJ0youtu.be/Web007rzSOIAnd watching (newly) this vid youtu.be/EZUoYgPe1Y4I’m a lanegan fan, I like his music I’ve gone to a number of concerts and often enough when I go into those concerts I look around and think to myself: ‘I see white people’. Not that there’s anything wrong with that. I’m just not used to in my daily life being surrounded by so many white people Sing Backwards and Weep included some black people, right? The Eritrean immigrants in Seattle, Shadow Anywhoo, all the rest. I don’t know where we go from here. Maybe after this call to consciousness I go back into my cocoon. Maybe some things legitimately change, for the better?

it is truly sad the state of the world in some places. I was discussing with my wife today how racism was an issue being discussed when we were in junior high school back in the early 90s, and not much has changed. We are lucky, we live in an area where there is not a lot of racism or crime. We educate are kids about racism (we are caucasian) and how important it is to stand up to racism and not tolerate it. violence of any kind is terrible, but it is even more terrible when it is motivated by skin color.
