Mark Knopfler is a stunningly good guitarist and songwriter. i'd put him at number 1 in my list of wonderful guitarists for sheer imaginative creativity.

its was fabulous, he was just sitting there noodling away and than he says I dont quite remember what I did here so I will just do this instead, and he just cranks out something totally amazing lick, and then he says hmm.....maybe I should have done that in the first place. ;D m0ng0 wish he could have the talent in just his pinky

BLOOOOOOODY HELLLL WOMAN!! Just got off listeining to The Firstborn Is Dead- IT IS OFF THE FRIGGING WALL! WOW. ok-Tupelo, Black Crow King, Knockin On Joe & Wanted Man especially,(originally penned for Dylan or Cash i read somewhere??) i thought were brilliant. Ive never heard anything quite like it- tons of atmosphere, never heard the blues sound so demented ;D Nicks vocals sound real powerfull, much more so than on NMSWP which i still liked as well, its just that (& maybe im on my own here), when he's doing his ballads- sometimes he has a strained sound that im not so into, but here is great. It needs to be immersed in. Havnt listend to KATP yet, but so far my faves of all his stuff would be: 1. Boatmans Call (well.. maybe cuz it was the first & i had a bit of a passionate love affair withit 2. Let Love In.. nostrills n all! 3. First Born They're all quite different/ contrasting Ok- im off to get my eardrums caressed by 16HP- Low Estate should go very well after FBID Thanx K! KATP is his cover album, it sounds quite different from his own songs. Very good version of Black Betty and I love the cheesy Something's Gotten Hold Of My Heart... ;D

Some music just stirrs you to wanna learn the banjo, organ- violin- accordian (typething)- piano & geetar, & triggers an overwhelming compulsion for thigh slappin t'bacca chewin feral type lunatic hillbilly behaviour, oh yeah, & to sing with a set of hollerin lungs t'boot. HA! Were you planning to buy Sackcloth'n Ashes? It's not as good as Low Estate but there are a few gems on it, I seen what I saw, Haw, Black Soul Choir, American Wheeze... I bought the new Woven Hand and was a bit disappointed.. He's overdoing the "Praise the Lord or burn in hell and everlasting doom" a bit and musically it reminded me of 16HP's Folklore. Blush is still my favourite. Tenacious D Chris Whitley- Perfect Day

this comment... very American Psycho, in both technique and delivery. 2 Gold Stars. thanks, i was going to start some convoluted university thesis on why i thought that, while humping two ugly hookers, but apathy set in. knopfler really is the dog's balls though.

i dont want to carry on this conversation, because it perpetuates the myth that Man Utd mean anything to anyone else... we don't all HATE you,we just churn out dissitations about you at the drop of a hat,or a 3 line tribute to a debut. it's this thing in your collective heads. that it's all about you. that everyone hates you, and no one is bothered about any other teams. seriously, you're not that big a deal... playing Man Utd is not the be-all and end-all of a season.but i still can't explainate the reason why people all over the country snap up tickets for their games against you quicker than they do for EVERY OTHER GAME THEY PLAY you had the 90's... and now you know it's all slipping away. you cant compete anymore... heading for a possible top-6 finish. welcome home... .although please ignore my fingers crossed behind my back. the dream is over. and deep down, you all know it. your name is fading(but i daren't imagine how much you'd realise for doing what the Arse have done with their new ground),your team is fading(even though you'd've definitely won it last year but for a forgetful idiot), your profits are failing.....due to a smaller tv revenue, but i'll choose to ignore the ongoing"biggest in english football history"sponsorship deals with the nike and the vodafone. phil neville - supposedly on £35000 a week? hilarious. dont you agree? he wouldnt get in half the teams in the premiership... kleberson? bellion? djemba-djemba? silvestre? do you think any of that lot would get in the chelsea or arsenal squad? seriously?firstly,on this occasion,i'll ignore the fact that you can afford it,and that you're just about the ONLY club who pays only 50% of its turnover(which is a perfectly acceptable business practice)i'll ignore the fact that ray parlour played and played and played for arsenal, and that every team since time began has had utility players, that could "do a job".and i'll ignore the fact that arsenal can go 3 years with only fa cup wins to satiate their needs whilst their new players settle in,and even tho your new rubbish players have only had one season,i already KNOW they'll never make it. i see Man U relying heavily on stop-gap/average men like that more and more with each season that your title hopes begin to fade...even though you were walkin it last year til david "crooked teeth dein" had his new "made up for your major rivals, new laws implemented agree?i doubt you will. and i stand by the 'clueless/disjointed corporation' comment... as the news over the last couple of days seems to back me up quite well, because i'm prepared to ignore the fact that for such a clueless disjointed corporation, you've spent hundreds of millions on players and stadium refurbishment in the last 10 years, and you still turn massive profits(to the tune of being the most profitable sporting franchise in the world, your squad is 5 years averagely younger than 2 years ago,and that you've got 2 of the best young players in europe, and the defence that was walkin the league and had only conceded in 1 out of 6 group games in europe last year is back in situ now, only with a proper left back, and that your u-17 team is currently pissing the 2 leagues it's involved in(one of which i KNOW to be vs 30 yr old big hairy arsed herberts who only wanna clog them)and the future looks especially bleak for ya.... basically,i'm akin to mr t,"i pity the foool" who'll have to suffer what you've got coming cheers mate, when i first read your post,i thunk you were havin a pop, then i re-read it,and you're actually decidedly nice. see yow down tha veelar?

cheers mate, when i first read your post,i thunk you were havin a pop, then i re-read it,and you're actually decidedly nice. see yow down tha veelar? seeing as you had no real argument on this one, i'll repeat it... you had the 90's... and now you know it's all slipping away. you cant compete anymore... heading for a possible top-6 finish. welcome home... your league performances/results ARE slipping. it's a fact. and you must know that, surely? just answer yes or no... you're failing miserably this season - comparative to previously VERY successful seasons. and chelsea and arsenal DO appear to have stronger squads, and are getting results even when they dont perform well... a knack which Man Utd once had, but which they seem to have lost. drawing with an injury-ravaged m'boro side? oh, and Rio had been snorting coke. that's why he missed his test and then made phone calls and legged it... your team IS fading. dont worry, think of liverpool in the 90's after THEIR 80's... you're going through the equivalent. they were the big name. they were the big side. it's all over now baby blue. time will tell. did you enjoy last season? there's more of the same to come... your team IS fading. dont worry, think of liverpool in the 90's after THEIR 80's... you're going through the equivalent. they were the big name. they were the big side. it's all over now baby blue. time will tell. did you enjoy last season? there's more of the same to come...

Blush is still my favourite Tenacious D Chris Whitley- Perfect Day Just been listening to CWhitleys 'Hotel Vast Horizon'- i dig it rather alot; hmm.. how to say.. 'the horses knackers'! Faves being the title track & New Lost World, really suits my frame of mind at present. The second album im still getting my head round- great bluesy slide guitar going on- but didnt get me like HVH... errmm.. gets me a little emotional ;D if y'know what i mean. Listend to both WH albums & actually i prefer the debut with Blue Pail Fever & Aint No Sunshine coming in as favourites hot on the heels of Brimstone Rock & My Narrow Mind (? not sure of writing there). I know what you mean- thers a fine line in overdoing the religious themes so it becomes less 'commanding' atmospherics & more overdone theatrics. But overall dig this album too. Deus mix is a 'difficult' one for me- like some of it (ive only spinned it once so far)- Fell of The Floor & Jigsaw You are standouts so far... & The Mix- quite nise overall... Nina Natasia/ Grapefruit Moon/ Lisa Germano are my faves its really quite a nise mellow mix. Transformer- its been YEARS sinse i heard it... still love Perfect Day the most.. glad to have it back! Thanks Oooooooh & Nina Rio Berlin & KATP still to go....... ;D ;D Hooray! Thankyou very much ;D

I bet he's wearing a noel edmonds-style jumper on the front cover.
Today I am mostly listening to Martha Reeves and the Vandellas.
