Nice to see that Yuck enjoyed the new My Bloody Valentine / Besnard Lakes albums as much as the rest of us did - new song, and it's lovely.

Kind of imitating Syd Barrett... I don't like it. I mean I can hear that Syd's tunes came from somewhere within himself, here with Foxygen it comes from outside... if you know what I mean hahaha. Oh now I know, it really sounds like Belle & Sebastian. Have you heard the Dutch Jacco Gardner? He really does his best to sound real 60's psychedelic, Pink Floydish. I'm so surprised to see my generation is into this, I always was alone in this back in the day when I grew up. I grew up with 60's music, it was my own discovery, through radio and then I plundered my fathers records collection, it was just the first kind of music that struck me. It's touching they want that sound back, and I like their efforts, yet it's still just a lesser sounding copy imo...

Yeah, there's a whole bunch of 60s psych-influenced stuff floating about right now, mostly on and around the Ghost Box label over here. Their newest signing is/are The Soundcarriers, who have a really early Floyd sound to them, sometimes by being really happy like Barrett or really creepy like Waters. This is sort of both, a single from last year. I have no idea how they managed to get Elijah Wood in to do the vocals. Slightly less odd, and in keeping with the Big Hat Theme from above, Grim Tower are someone out of Black Mountain and someone from Lou Barlow's New Folk Implosion. Again not 100% sure what's actually going on, but that's half the fun

Thanks, Julia and Silence! Lovely lovely music! I kind of know what you mean, julia. I don't really think Foxygen are inventing anything, but they invoke so much of the music I grew up with - or rather - loved deeply as a child. The Beatles, The Ronettes ("Be my baby" is the first song I can remember being genuinely in love with when I was about 5 or 6 years old. Thank you, Dirty Dancing!) - that seemingly effortless ease with which the melodies carried themselves. The psychedelia scene is also doing pretty well here in Denmark, and have been around for a few years. Like this on from 2001

Cool, I hear the influence best in yours frauleinkül. It reminds me a bit of Nederbeat (60's Dutch rock), which I still very much love. The English of the Nederbeat bands is so bad, and childish but maybe that's part of their appeal... For example Q65, I loooove them, I can't help but post a couple of songs. And of course they probably wanted to be just like the British groups that were big back then, and these British groups started with covering American blues songs. So even the best started with just copying

Ahhahahahaaaaa , there certainly is a truth to that! Though I'll gladly admit that I listen to a couple of them every now and again. But I am such a sucker for a catchy pop tune or a novelty hit

Sir Mix-a-Lot (its the sillyness), love som of The Cardigans, but not Lovefool.. "One Week" only makes me happy in Veronica Mars. And I never ever understood why people loved/love that "You only get what you give"-song. Never ever got it. Oh well.. Aaaaaand a bit of Danish music from the 60s!

MINUS THE BEAR - ICE MONSTER you've come to this, you were once a lion you've come to this, ringing din here you've come to this, you were a lion you've come to this, sigh alone now you walked on some tall new tale it's come to this, you walked on it tall, but we all know you've come home to fall
she's gone, she's gone 'cross the border, man and you're never gonna see her again. i could give fuck all what you do to me. but your party's over, it's done. the end.
take a step back, take a step back, take a step back now, take a step back and turn yourself around. the check has been cashed, there's no stopping it now you're safe if i'm safe and if she's safe, we're all good the sooner we're past this we'll all stop our knocking on wood knock on wood
she's gone, she's gone 'cross the border, man and you're never gonna see her again i could give a fuck all what you do to me but your party's over, it's done. the end
it's come to this [8x], and we all know that you've come home to fall
she's gone, she's gone 'cross the border, man and you're never gonna see her again i could give fuck all what you do to me just leave her out of this
