Went to Lollapalooza and survived the Lollapocalypse along with seeing lots of good bands. The night before I saw Band of Horses and Michael Kiwanuka at The Metro.
Saw My Morning Jacket and Band of Horses on Friday night.
Gearing up for a great September: 9/2 Made In America fest - only reason I'm going is the possibility of Pearl Jam and Cornell performing some Temple of The Dog. 9/10 Amanda Fucking Palmer!! 9/16 Bon Iver 9/20 Glen Hansard 9/21 Peter Gabriel 9/25 Bell X1
Working on my October schedule now...

Saw My Morning Jacket and Band of Horses on Friday night. Do you know if Blake Mills is still playing guitar for band of horses? He is so good! He was playing with Lucinda Williams for a while and recently Fiona Apple. Fiona is a dream job for a guitarist because she appreciates creativity and gives musicians space to interpret. Upcoming shows in New Orleans Sept. 17th Amanda Palmer Oct 18th Melvins --Baton Rouge Oct 19th Afghan Whigs Oct 3rd Dinosaur Jr. --!!!

Sept 24th - Local H at the Troubadour in West Hollywood, but I'm really going for one of the opening bands - Ambassadors - the drummer is the son of a friend of mine and I really like them. December 4th - Springsteen in Anaheim December 6th - Social Distortion at Anaheim House of Blues Going to both shows with a certain French musician who showed up here earlier this year...it should be a lot of fun (and we may go to a Clippers game on Dec 5th) (Haven't seen anything in Oct/Nov yet that's grabbed my interest)

No, Blake Mills definitely wasn't with BoH this past couple of times. Since I was unfamiliar with him, I looked him up. Pretty cool that he was in Dawes before they were Dawes. I love that band! On another note, I am definitely going to participate in Amanda's 7 photos. I've seen her twice before, once solo and once as Evelyn Evelyn and she does not disappoint!

dafuq? do you manage their tour or something? or just as fan? Haha, just as a fan. And having a mid-life crisis. All rolled up into one. Strike that maybe from Amanda Palmer and go see her (so long as she isn't trotting hubby out to do songs - so not good).

Rush and The Tragically Hip, but I am more excited about the friends gathering at my house those 2 weekends than the actual shows.

Their NY fans are rabid enough for me! The Seneca Nation of Indians is just north of me, and they are playing at their casino. The Hip is the band I have seen most. I am pretty sure this will be my 21st show. Looking forward to hearing their new album!

Glen and Chris are both so awesome live. For some reason, I have been really into The Smiths again. I listened to How soon is Now? on repeat yesterday in my car.

I listened to How soon is Now? on repeat yesterday in my car. I do, don't I, now that you point it out. I haven't had much time to keep up with new bands, so I end up picking out the familiar names (and they are typically the first tickets to go on sale!). I've been patiently waiting for Chris to play a downtown theater for many years, so I'm thrilled to finally get to see him - indoors.

I'm thinking about going to the Afghan Whigs in Boston on Wednesday.
I'd be going alone. Its really fucking expensive, too, $35 GA? The House of Blues is bullshit. I'm sure their drinks are like $9 too.
