Launch Radio Networks reports: MEAT PUPPETS have completed their first album in over a decade to feature both guitarist/singer Curt Kirkwood and his brother, bassist Cris Kirkwood. The new disc, titled "Rise to Your Knees", will be released on July 17, according to Billboard.com. The Kirkwoods last played together on 1995's "No Joke!", after which Cris Kirkwood spent most of the last 11 years battling a heroin addiction that nearly killed him. MEAT PUPPETS made one CD without him, 2000's "Golden Lies".
The low point for Cris Kirkwood came in late 2003, when he was shot during a fight with a post office security guard and ended up spending 18 months in jail. Curt Kirkwood told Billboard, "Cris shouldn't be alive... Cris has completely held hands with demons for 10 years and he's still swinging. He's not a total nut. He's a really sensitive guy. He's just been through hell."
The reunited brothers made their live debut last month with four shows at Austin's South by Southwest music festival.
The group is beginning to confirm a number of spring and summer tour dates, with the first one on May 15 in Los Angeles.
MEAT PUPPETS were widely considered one of the most influential independent punk bands of the '80s, achieving mainstream success with their 1994 album, "Too High To Die", and its massive single, "Backwater".

I enjoyed Eyes Adrift. I will be in attendance at the 5/15 show. This is the most I've looked foward to a concert since I saw Mark Lanegan and the Twilight Singers. Not even Veruca Salt got me this excited.
