Mmmm, chocolate milk.
Well, Bubblegum will always hold up for me. It was my first Lanegan solo purchase (I couldn't get anything in my area) so it is memorable and will be forever. Nothing like sitting in the dark and putting on something you've never heard and hearing the grit of the voice...When your number isn't up was a good first song to hear.
I'm not a fan of sideways in reverse, I don't know how it was the first single...I did see it on TV once though...
'Whiskey...' is possibly my favourite album. It's at least my 'happy' music. 'Weird Chill' is one of my most interesting albums ("Delirivm Cordia" is pretty interesting too, as well as most Tom Waits) but Chill is great. I can't compare it to any other Lanegan, and I don't think it should be. To me I think of it as his experimental phase, but I do love the CD! It is short, but I don't think stuff like that should be dragged out.
Bubblegum though, I'd say is a great album. It has a bit of everything Lanegan on it. Well, sort of. Moreso than any others! That's what keeps me loving it. The fact that no matter what I want to hear, I can pick it up and hear at least a bit of it, is a great thing. Unless I'm in the mood for jazz or death metal or something...

I've been listening to the end of Bubblegum at lunchtime and such a lot lately.
First time my boyfriend heard it (in the car on a longish trip) he exclaimed "this is rediculous!" in the midst of Like Little Willie John.
ps: more fantasies: my boyfriend is big into Angels of Light and I like to fantasize about Lanegan kicking Micheal Gira's ass. bwahaha.....

..mine knew alot more about ML's work than I did but he's already reached saturation point - he hasn't had the same emotional response that I have.

I think its a classic. I am confused as to why some previous Lanegan fans dislike it desipte the fact his heart and soul oozes throughout the album. If thats not good enough then what is?

i can't make up my mind if i like field songs or bubblegum better. maybe field sonds, but just a tiny little bit. because of "low". bubblegum is a wonderful, wonderful thing. it will still sound and feel good in years.
