I have some news! Last week i was in Columbia records for a meeting, when i finished i did my usual grab a few free cds please. Looking at the selection on the dude's desk while he was grabbing a few a spotted a Columbia records generic cdr sleeve marked :
Soulsavers : Unbalanced Pieces - featuring Mark Lanegan & Mike Patton
I was told there was no way i could have it!! It was only one track, not the whole record. I asked a couple of questions, but didn't get much info. He said the six tracks he'd heard were 'Amazing', very varied again. Some tracks were a lot more rock than the last record. No release date set yet, but would probably be around the time they play The Reading Festival (another bit of info). Also said they were trying to get them to take a look at their live show as it's so expensive to tour, that way when the record comes out they can bring them over to play 20 shows rather than the 5 they played last time.
Anyway thought i'd share the info! Soulsavers with Lanegan & Patton. Now that sounds good to me.

Nice. Remember Mike Patton picked them for his Nightmare Before Christmas ATP festival last year, so it's not a huge surprise.

Now that I have finished my quest for half-decent jazz flute stuff on youtube (to be honest, I peaked with the vibes), this is pretty phenomenal stuff and I'm more stoked for this album than before (did anyone have Patton in the 2nd vocalist thread BTW?). Hopefully this gets released sooner rather than later, and can't wait to see this live!
EDIT: The spelling gods are against me

there is a far chance that mongo is going to shit his pants with excitement.
soulsavers mentioned that it was due to be a double album featuring 2 of their favourite vocalists, right?
the question begs- is Patton the other vocalist, or is he just on this one tune?

I read that last word of the first sentence completely wrong first, which led me to think "well, what else is he going to do it with?"

That was speculation on someone's part, as they're producing Spain's upcoming thingy as far as I can remember. Don't think it's been mentioned anywhere who's on it other than that two people were on it (shortly before Mark confirmed his doings)
