I don't give a shit what you say, tabs are still lame. I can't give tabs to a trumpet player and expect him to play it. They're not universal and that's why they're inferior. And you can't write new music in tab. There is no possible way for it to have a rythm in the current notations used. You could potentially alter it so it would hold that, and yeah that's fine. Seiously, I once had an assignment where we had to design our own new way of a universal music notation and many of the final projects were similar to tabs but they had been enhanced to include everything the tab lacks.
I don't care if a performer can read music. Could Ray Charles read music? Was he a musician? I'm not discrediting everyone who can't read sheet music, my point was that tabs are a lower form of musical notation. That's my opinion and how I feel. I KNOW sheet music and I KNOW what a second inversion chord is and what it looks like, and maybe that's why I don't like tabs, fine.

Wow, this is the best thread that came up in a while. I'm on the "go tabs!" side of the debate though, because I was trying to learn guitar for enjoyment, not to be better than everyone else.
But I was wondering, can anyone direct me to a complete listing of Mark Lanegan sheet music?

wow I just wanted to know if there was any actual tabs out there, I can play just about all Mark's stuff, he stays in minor alot. I'm riding the fence on the lyric/music thing though, personally Mark's words have just always hit home with me first, I honestly don;t think there is a better songwriter out there that could even come close to the beauty and honesty of Mark's words but then you listen to something like Blues for D and the music just takes you away. Mark Lanegan and the Black Crowes are pretty much my life, don't know how you guys are gonna take the TBC thing, i've found outside of my world alot of people think they are a joke, but I've got about 100 live shows that say different and would be happy to share with anyone who wants to hear them, anyway thank s you guys for the welcome aboard!
