The Pulse of Radio reports: Courtney Love fired off a series of Twitter posts about the use of her late husband Kurt Cobain's avatar in the new Guitar Hero 5 video game. The game drew heavy fire online last week after it arrived in stores and footage surfaced of the Cobain avatar singing songs by BON JOVI, PUBLIC ENEMY and BUSH. According to Idolator.com, Love entered the fray after she and ex-NIRVANA drummer Dave Grohl were blasted by rock journalist Everett True for supposedly allowing the use of Cobain's image.
True posted an obscenity-laden tirade in which he called Love and Grohl "Fucking corporate . . . memory-destroying fret-wanking MTV-supporting fame-chasing money-grabbing grave-turning publicity-loving vacuous spoiled jaded cunting rock whores." Love responded with a series of her usual garbled tweets, which were interpreted by CLTranslated as "I may have been forced by some lying lawyers to sell some publishing, but I never signed off on this Guitar Hero thing. Breach of contract!"
Love seemed to admit to approving a Cobain lunchbox, but denies being involved with the Guitar Hero avatar or the use of Cobain's image on other items such as Converse sneakers.
Love also insisted that she had "NO say" in the music that the Cobain avatar can perform.
Dave Grohl does not control the use of Cobain's image at all so it's not clear why True singled him out as well.

The Pulse of Radio reports: Not only has late NIRVANA frontman Kurt Cobain made it into Guitar Hero 5 as a playable character, as previously reported, but apparently you can make his avatar play guitar right-handed and sing BON JOVI's "You Give Love A Bad Name", along with songs from MEGADETH, PUBLIC ENEMY and NIRVANA wannabes BUSH (see video below). A "highlight reel" of what you can do with the Cobain character in Career Mode was posted online Tuesday (September 1), the same day that the game arrived in stores.
In addition to the Cobain avatar, the NIRVANA songs "Smells Like Teen Spirit" and "Lithium" appear in a Guitar Hero game for the first time.
Cobain's widow, Courtney Love, played a major role in putting Cobain's image together for the game, Activision's Vice President of Music Affairs Tim Riley told RollingStone.com. It is not clear whether Love had any opinion on what the unlockable Cobain character could perform, or just took the money and ran.

Kurt would probably laugh at the prospect of himself being a video game character playing bon jovi.... its kinda funny

I reckon you're probably on the dollar there. It'd be great too if the tunes came out sounding stylistically appropriate to your avatar - for example if you could play Living On A Prayer and have it come out sounding like Negative Creep!

Can Kurt play and sing 'Nearly Lost You'? Or was that Rock Band? ahhh, who cares?
If you can't kill stuff or shoot pucks in a video game it ain't worth playing as far as I'm concerned.
