I found this on another board, this dude is sure full of himself
Kanye West Has Truly Lost It This Time Posted Sun Sep 13, 2009 9:08pm PDT by Billy Johnson, Jr. in Hip-Hop Media Training
You know that saying, it takes a village to raise a child?
Apparently, Kanye's village has failed him. He obviously doesn't have a real friend in the world. There does not appear to be anyone who can get through to him, to make him understand that he needs to curb his obnoxious behavior.
I thought it was a joke when Kanye showed up on the MTV Video Music Awards stage next to Taylor Swift, right in the middle of her acceptance speech for Best Female Video for "You Belong With Me." It was the first Moon Man for the 19-year-old country starlet, who has become an equally huge star in the pop world.
Click here to watch Kanye's outburst.
"I always dreamed about what it would be like to win one of these one day," Taylor said with surprise. "I never thought it would happen."
As Taylor continued, Kanye interrupted, saying he thought Beyonce's "Single Ladies" video was wrongly overlooked. "Hey Taylor, I'm really happy for you, but Beyonce had one of the best videos of all time."
Taylor looked humiliated. I felt humiliated for her. The audience booed him, and gave her a standing ovation.
I didn't expect Taylor to win that award, and I'm not upset about Kanye's opinion. However, bum-rushing the stage wasn't the appropriate time and place to express his disagreement.
Not only was Kanye's approach disrespectful, it was especially disrespectful because it was directed towards a woman--a teenage girl, actually. Taylor won't turn 20 until December. I can only imagine how her father feels. I'm sure he would like to have a talk to Kanye. I'm not related to her, and I'd like to have a talk with him.
If Kanye wants people to win the awards he thinks they deserve, he should create his own event. He should name it after his website, KanyeUniversecity.com, and webcast it.
Kanye is a guest at the MTV Video Music Awards. He does not determine the winners. The winners are determined by popular vote. Furthermore, aside from the fact that Taylor Swift is a top-selling artist, who has revolutionized teen country pop, she did not have any competition in this category as her competitors Beyonce, Lady GaGa, Pink, and Kelly Clarkson split the pop vote. Taylor had to get 100 percent of the country vote, plus some of the pop vote as well.
It's simple math that even a "College Dropout" should be able to figure out.
Ironically, a MTV writer joked that Kanye's rant was an indication that he might be inebriated. "Kanye West ruins Taylor Swift's big moment," the MTV.com editor wrote. "Further proof that he's on the Hennessy. In my humble opinion, that is."
MTV also reported that Perez Hilton and Hayley Williams started a #TeamTaylor trend on Twitter.
Pink tweeted about her annoyance with Kanye. "Kanye West is the biggest piece of sh-t on earth. Quote me," she wrote. "My heart goes out to Taylor Swift. She is a sweet and talented girl, and deserved her moment. She should know we all love her."
Kanye has previously made award show rants about Gretchen Wilson, Justice and Simian, as well as Britney Spears and Justin Timberlake, but this was the worst.
I give credit to Taylor. She handled it gracefully. The audience countered him by giving her a standing ovation, and booed Kanye throughout the night whenever his name was mentioned.
Taylor performed "You Belong With Me" live just minutes later. I watched, wondering if she would feel flustered, and if it would show in her performance. But it didn't.
I think she channeled that negative energy into a positive. Good for her.
Fortunately, Taylor got another chance to complete her acceptance speech. When Beyonce accepted the Best Video Award for "Single Ladies," she invited Taylor back on stage.
"Wow, this is amazing," Beyonce said when receiving her award. "I remember being 17-years-old and up for my first MTV award with Destiny's Child. It was one of the most exciting moments in my life. So, I'd like for Taylor to come out and have her moment."
Taylor then joined Beyonce on stage and recited her acceptance speech, only making a subtle reference to the incident. Before rattling off her special thanks, she said, "Maybe we can try this again."
After the awards, Kanye posted an apology to Taylor on his website, KanyeUniversecity.com. "I'M SOOOOO SORRY TO TAYLOR SWIFT AND HER FANS AND HER MOM," Kanye wrote on his site, AP reported. "I SPOKE TO HER MOTHER RIGHT AFTER AND SHE SAID THE SAME THING MY MOTHER WOULD'VE SAID. SHE IS VERY TALENTED!"
Still, MTV should have thrown Kanye out of the event. Had any other heckler had the audacity to interrupt the broadcast, they would have been thrown out and probably charged. He should not be treated any differently.
This dude needs help

Yeah, even his blog apology was douchetastic, for among other reasons, hinting that she should give her award to Beyonce. " …………………… I’M IN THE WRONG FOR GOING ON STAGE AND TAKING AWAY FROM HER MOMENT!…………….. BEYONCE’S VIDEO WAS THE BEST OF THIS DECADE!!!! I’M SORRY TO MY FANS IF I LET YOU GUYS DOWN!!!! I’M SORRY TO MY FRIENDS AT MTV. I WILL APOLOGIZE TO TAYLOR 2MRW. WELCOME TO THE REAL WORLD!!!! EVERYBODY WANNA BOOOOO ME BUT I’M A FAN OF REAL POP CULTURE!!! .....YOU ARE VERY VERY TALENTED!!! I GAVE MY AWARDS TO OUTKAST WHEN THEY DESERVED IT OVER ME… THAT’S WHAT IT IS!!!!!!! I’M NOT CRAZY YALL, I’M JUST REAL. SORRY FOR THAT!!!" Such as ass. NME even did a nice little rundown of some of his other outbursts: www.nme.com/photos/kanye-west-s-funniest-outbursts/152392/1/1And really, as the good and great Ted Leo pointed out on Twitter, though this was a TOTAL douchemove, this is hardly the worst thing he's done, and we should be putting him to task for his more grievous errors.

MTV had their Video Music Awards last night. Taylor Swift, a young pop-country singer, won an award. Kanye West ran up onstage and took the microphone from Taylor and started shouting that Beyonce should have won the award instead. He apologized (but not really). Thankfully, Beyonce is a classy lady and when she won an award later, she brought Taylor onstage so she could finish saying 'thank you'. It's just the most recent in a long list of asshole behaviour from him

ok, i get it- but can someone explain this...
the Best Female Video award was won by Taylor Swift, and Beyonce was nominated for Single Ladies (because, Beyonce is a female, i am led to believe...)
At the end of the show... the big award of the night (Video Of The Year) is Beyonce's Single Ladies. So.. Beyonce's video was THE BEST VIDEO OF THE WHOLE YEAR.. and yet Taylor Swift's video was better in the female category?
ridiculous.
the whole thing of climbing on stage was a bit silly... but Kanye himself admitted he did it because popular culture is so important to him. if only he'd known how completely skewed the system is, and that Beyonce would later be rewarded for the best video of the year, which was his whole point.
and dont forget that Kanye has produced stuff for (Beyonce's husband) Jay-Z, as well. which leads me to believe it may have been another setup stunt in the style of the Bruno vs Eminem thing at the Movie Awards. Beyonce maybe didn't quite look surprised enough...

Well I guess the best thing that MTV could do to this guy who obviously takes videos and awards way too seriously is maybe boycott his videos and never 'invite' him to the awards show again. Isn't this like the 3rd time he's done something like this? 3 strikes you're out sucka.

lord, i remember when mildly amusing things kept the VMAs interesting and exciting. now the awards are completely irrelevant, there are far too many music channels with far too little choice and far too many staged reality shows... and everybody moans about anything remotely interesting or controversial - be it a presenter giving political opinions, a dude from Rage Against The Machine climbing scaffolding, or a mad rapper storming the stage. these are the things the world of tv is crying out for. excitement. things that make you think. things that cause a reaction.
taylor swift is an adult. she is also a corporate whore, peddling bullshit that fits into the strict parameters of US radio and tv because of the way she looks. she calls that stuff she does COUNTRY music? it's pop music, from a girl with enough of an accent and a big enough Nashville background to fit into the additional target market of country music radio/tv to rack up an extra 3million sales.
Taylor Swift is also currently rated as one of the top 100 most powerful celebrities on the planet, so for everyone to sit by like she's some little wide-eyed lamb who got scared and upset by the big scary black man is absolutely pathetic. she's a keen business mind who has performed in front of millions, and a pathetic little wench who has been sheltered from reality at every turn...
and who has been groomed for superstardom since she was about 12.
i do not believe for a second that she is really the sole songwriter on things like that Love Story song. she might've come up with the ideas for it, but that has been heavily edited and reconstructed to work on commercial radio.
meanwhile, kanye west is a multiple grammy winning producer and songwriter who sells millions of records and has not been afraid to change direction on a massive scale despite having a clear 'winning formula' in terms of record sales. that takes serious balls. the fact that he gets drunk and lairy at award shows while everyone else is sucking each others' asses is great. i fucking love it. totally punk rock in attitude. he's a breath of fresh air in an age of pussies, fake rock stars and people like chris cornell doing michael jackson covers and making shit music about 'bitches' with Timbaland in order to eke out a bit more fame and fortune.
i dont want clean perfection and smiling, smug faces at award shows. i want controversy and fuck-ups.
keep it coming, Kanye. we want more. but less of the Britney criticism, dude.

If he was really punk rock he would have never gone to the awards show in the first place. Instead he goes and has a tantrum.
I agree with all the other things you said about the state of music today. Apparantly Chris Cornell eke out on his cover of Lennon's "Imagine" now. He performed it on Conan the other night and alothough it was a really good perfomance he now wants to release it on iTunes. I have never heard of any other music performance that has been done on a talk show being released on iTunes. Talk about sucking the life out of it.

If he was really punk rock he would have never gone to the awards show in the first place. Instead he goes and has a tantrum. no no no. i think you're wrong. punk behaviour should always be aimed at the biggest exposure it can get - otherwise you're preaching to the choir. no impact whatsoever if things aren't on a big scale. who'd care about the Sex Pistols if they'd only sold 200records that they'd handpressed themselves and only sold to cool people? who'd remember them if they hadn't gone on the Grundy TV show and gone mental, if they hadnt released God Save The Queen in time for the jubilee and been banned from number one by the powers that be? who'd care about The Clash if they hadnt sold out Shea Stadium? that's breaking into the establishment and fucking with it. and THAT is what it's all about. as for the VMAs... of course it's punk rock to be there. think about nirvana's sensation bass toss.. the bust up with guns n roses, sending a michael jackson impersonator up to get an award for them... starting to play Rape Me after being told they couldnt.. krist novoselic mentioning Joseph Goebbels in their speech. again, this is messing with the existing order, making it work for you, making special moments that people will always look back on and remember. we want the madness and we want the controversy, surely? be it petulance and ego... or righteous fury.. or fucking with the corporate suits... whatever. it's what we all need. and it's what teenagers need today. all they see now is corporate dimwits standing and smiling, keeping their target markets happy and holding firm with the establishment. if they're not right and you disagree with them, get up and say it. that's what kids need to see and know. that's what Kanye did. he had no vested interest. it wasn't HIM that was up for the award. it wasn't a selfish act. it was an act that was aimed at correcting a clear injustice. if beyonce is a female and her video goes on to win the best video of the year, how was it not the best FEMALE video of the year? total nonsense. those fucking dimwits were all standing there applauding this travesty of a decision (a decision that was aimed solely at promoting Ms Swift and was probably the result of some backhander between her corporate record label and the MTV corporation), and someone stepped up and said 'this is fucking WRONG, and everyone here KNOWS it', despite all this smug, misdirected applause from a bunch of self-satisfied fucking arseholes. i could talk about this stuff all day. but i won't. probably.

I agree with most of what Mokkly invisibles said (especially the Taylor Swift part) but I don't think Kanye West operates in the same fashion as punk rockers do. Punk Rockers always thought to be a thorn in the side of the "establishment". They wanted huge audiences, yes, but only to get their meesage out. Kanye wants to get a bigger audience to sell more records. Were punk rock types interested in selling records? For sure, but they also had different goals, and I do not think Kanye West has those same goals.

ok, so obviously im exaggerating and over-emphasising my point for effect. but the fact remains- she is a piece of shit, acting like a little princess, giving her shitty speech about whoever's cock she was sucking when she was 14 in order to get where she is today...
...while Kanye was drunk, funny, insanely egotistical... and.. most importantly, CORRECT.
i know which i would rather see at backslapping bigtime award shows.
it's a shame that he's backed down, but hey.. Lennon backed down on the whole "right now, The Beatles are more important than god and religion".. and he was right at the time as well.

I don't think people look at Kanye and say "wow he's so punk rock" they look at him and say "What an asshole". Why are you making such strong judgement on Taylor Swift, did she do something wrong? She's barely an adult and she was verbally attacked in a public forum. He got booed for a reason.

Lennon's response to the whole thing, while partly explanatory, left him looking at the awful treatment he was getting, resigning himself to public opinion (just like Kanye is doing) and then being very tearful and giving a long-winded explanation that ended with an apology just to get people off his back. and Lennon was a wife-beating, child-neglecting arsehole back then anyway.

"...and that is why i am 100% right. and clearly if beyonce is female, as im led to believe, AND she produced THE video of the year, then she should have also won Best Female Video of the year. please discuss. oh, and most importantly- Kanye West's moment of madness is the only thing worth discussing at the VMAs this year, which is a damning indictment of the decline of MTV and popular music culture." im just trying to have a discussion here. i think it was funny and shocking. to me, that is entertainment and pop culture. if you're part of the circus (as Ms Swift is), then accept the clowns coming over and hitting you in the face with a pie. i dont know why you're all acting like you care about multimillionaire shit pop singer Taylor Swift. fuck her. if this hadn't happened and her name had been mentioned on this forum, you'd all be moaning about how shit she is and how lame her music is. if Britney had been subjected to Kanye's outburst, you'd all think it was funny and be trying to see what my reaction was. and i would still have thought it was very entertaining. that's being a celebrity in the 21st century. *edit*- in summary- dont take thing involving celebrities (who you dont know) too seriously. that's my point. it really doesnt matter. *edit*
