your right it does not matter, you just look like a flaming ass is all you're the one who everyone here realises has sat down, watched the VMAs, been righteously indignant and then gone along with popular opinion about some dude upsetting some dumb blonde teenager. and then you've tried to act like you just heard about this story after the fact so you still seem cool and like you dont care about pop culture. and then YOU started a thread about it on a mark lanegan forum. dont blame me for giving an opinion on a thread you started. surely you wanted a conversation out of it? i think you'd cry a little bit if you watched 'PS, I Love You' or 'Marley and Me', because that's what i expect from people who think this Taylor Swift thing means Kanye is a mean and nasty person. it's so obvious and boring. and by the way, it's you're.. as in you are. not your. still love you, dude.

the only thing I have a problem with is the assumption that this girl has no talent and the only reason she is on the show is because she sucked record producers dicks to become who she is.....that to me is a bit presumptuous and spoken like a jaded and bitter old man who has all the talent in the world and can't explain why that talent has not yet been recognized. Its just not fair, we bust our asses 24 hours a day, 8 days a week, we paid our dues, we have went about this the "right" way didnt we? I have put more blood sweat and tears into my dance moves then this stupid bambi right? Hell I have played guitar longer then this talentless little "tramp" has even been alive! Where is the justice in that? Suck a few dicks and be a rock star? Wheres your pride? I walk the line, I say mtv should take that bronzed piece of cardboard and give it to someone deserving, I thought I saw gaga in the audience somewhere

Ah, finally it seems I'm on time for a nice argument. I basically agree with invisibles (I've learned the new names now, Maidli) but I don't really think this kind of behaviour is an "attack to the system" as in the end it becomes good propaganda for the "victim" and sometimes also the "offender". I don't know who the hell this Taylor Swift is as I never even heard her name before this and now she's probably all over the place talking about her bad award experience... and others are talking about Kanye West and what a bad ass he is Also I wouldn't take any kind of award too seriusly to me it all comes to buisness rewarding itself

This is a dude who jumps canyons and shit for his art... Didn't Kanye swear in a hissy fit a couple of years back that he wasn't ever coming back to those awards anyway? Is that what they mean by a 'non-core' promise? Where's my hair stylist?

And that clip shows exactly why you can't even compare Sex Pistols, or Nirvana's performance for that matter, with Kanyes stupid little outburst. They were funny in a way that you laughed with them and not only at them, and they broke rules in a much bigger picture. The only headlines Kanye made was along the lines of "Kanye crying in regret @ some talkshow". He's just a douche thinking way too high of himself.

What a fun & interesting thread.
I have very little sympathy for either Kanye West or Taylor Swift. One's an egotistical asshole and one's a corporate whore. But at least Kanye is a bit more interesting and has some personal style. I wouldn't go so far as to call him punk rock, but I can't hate on him for what he did to Taylor Swift--I feel like the sympathy for her is more sexist than mokkly's criticism (oh, the poor dear! she's so young! and female!). Swift's "big moment" was hardly a real achievement and hardly anything she earned with real blood, sweat, and tears--I agree with mokkly here--I can't say it was some huge loss that she had her "moment" interrupted by something entertaining. She's still got the stupid statue and will still continue to pull in godzillions more money than most 'poor young dears' her age. Excuse me while I don't go cry for her that her moment accepting her shitty MTV award was not met with awed silence and prostrations to the grandeur of her artistic achievement.
My favorite thing Kanye has done is say that he thinks that reading is uncool, right before publishing his own book. lolz.
