Do you get opportunities to tour the South? Any interesting shows coming up? A: There used to be more opportunities. They’ve dried up a little bit, especially with the birth of my son 4 months ago. But I’ll always get the itch to perform. So no particularly interesting shows coming up. But I am part of an interesting project. I was approached some time ago by a British blues musician named Cypress Grove who had worked with Jeffrey Lee Pierce of the LA punk-blues band The Gun Club before Jeffrey died. He wanted me to play on some songs that he and Jeffrey had written before Jeffrey’s death. He got together some really cool people to make this record. Nick Cave, Debbie Harry, Lydia Lunch, Mark Lanegan, Isobell Campbell, David Eugene Edwards, Mick Harvey, The Raveonettes, the Sadies, and more. So I got to play on a track with Mark Lanegan, one with Mark and Isobell, and one with David Eugene Edwards. That should be coming out in awhile. Nick Cave has a deal where the release can’t coincide with any of his other releases, and he’s doing a ton of stuff right now. taken from an interview with Jeff Zentner: www.linescratchers.com/?p=325

I'm so looking forward to this long overdue tribute to the late JLP, & to have Mark & DEE on it is just out of this world. Got to say I'm also looking forward to Ms. Harry's, & the Sadies contributions too. Loved the Sadies 'Country Club' with John Doe of X. If I'm not mistaken this album was originally to consist of previously unrecorded compositions by JLP, but I don't know if that's still the case. It's a pretty safe bet Mark & Isobel will cover 'Free to Walk', & I'll have no problem with that if they do! The Gun Club, like 16 Horsepower were amazing live, & talk about intense! To this day they along with Mark are my absolute favourites, pure genius.

Found some more info: Liner notes by, among others, Wim Wenders and Henry Rollins. And: according to a Dutch web site to be released in November on Glitterhouse. I think this info came from a Giltterhouse PR or email.

The Raveonettes, Lydia Lunch, Deborah Harry, David Eugene Edwards (16 Horsepower), Mark Lanegan/Isobel Campbell, The Sadies, Lydia Lunch, Crippled Black Phoenix, Bells On The River, Cypress Grove, Johnny Dowd, Mick Harvey, Lydia Lunch... De commentaren bij de plaat komen van Wim Wenders en Henry Rollins. Blij om te zien dat we niet alleen staan met onze liefde voor The Gun Club.

This is awesome fucking news! Can't wait to hear Lanegan's contribution. Any word on the third Isobel album release date? Probably not, just thought I'd check. I remember Mark saying in a recent interview that the album either WAS or was about finished and should be out "soon."

Excellent, thanks! A bit cheaper than Amazon, too. I guess the currency conversation rate fluctuates. I paid $22.73 with shipping to the US. Excited to hear this! A nice Xmas present to myself ;D

This sounds like its gonna be awesome! I love tribute albums (the summers kiss one was super!) but.... 3 different versions of ramblin mind 3 different versions of free to walk & 3 different versions of constant waiting I don't think I've ever heard of this being done on a tribute album before (multiple artists covering the same song). I hope they are distinctly different from one another!
