Gelukkig nieuw jaar!!
My new years resolution is getting a job too. And trying to go to university, if they'll have me, snobby bastards. In 29 days I'll probably be starting my driving lessons. And, in true David Sedaris style: The Josh Homme-lookalike WILL be mine!

I got "Drink hot cocoa"! I think I can handle that! In 2010 I hope to: be calm and fair in my thoughts, be neater in my work, and train to run a 5k. That sounds like plenty, so I'll just leave stopping drinking until next year.

I quit smoking 2 years ago, but I made up my own program for it, and I have never seen it recommended anywhere. It's sort of a cross between will power and self-deprecation.
I had a little bucket of sand I used as an ash tray outside on my porch. I smoked until that thing was full of butts, and then I quit, cold turkey. Each day when I got home from work, and was dying for a smoke, I went to the porch, dug through the butts until I found one with a few drags left, and lit it up.
It was so disgusting and horrible, so while I smoked a few butts I reminded myself how sad, disgusting, and horrible I was for doing that. By the time I got down to about 4 useable butts left, I tossed them and never went back. Though sometimes I still wish I could.
I don't know if that would work, I am used to thinking bad things about myself so it didn't do much self-esteem damage to go about it that way. If anyone tries it and it works, let me know. Maybe we could start a program!

It's sort of a cross between will power and self-deprecation It was so disgusting and horrible, I agree on point 1 and disagree on point 2 I still dream of a cig , I never been disgusted of them. Self estim is the way you feel about it, and the fact you can do it. you know that desicion you took in mind and actually you feel like shit. Happy to read your own program worked And now I personaly want to add : FUCK to great theories and blahblahblah!! What helped me was NOBODY talk of me about my essay to quit!!! Or I could put the ashtray on them faces!! It's a self work...and an own decision. If you fail several times , hey that's fine ! No trouble ... and I think to try and even think about quitting is an own victory by itself. Then... cheeeeeers

Well I know this might annoy some but i'll be honest: I decided to quit smoking one day and never looked back anymore. I don't dream about it, don't crave for it, I don't even think about it, so much that i wonder if it ever happened. Does it make sense to you?

Lucky you no more another resolution? Yes, aren't we all talking personal? But lucky why? I don't see what that has brought me of good. And people fuck you for doing it and fuck you for don't so fine by me. Why have a resolution? Things come by themselves. I guess i'm having a bad day ;D

Belated happy new year all. And one extra gold star to grangerlang for pulling off a perfect "Gott nytt år". No resolutions for me. I'll just do my very best to go ahead with full throttle.
