Interview on Artistxite: "What am I gonna say to Leonard Cohen?"So in this interview Mark says that he's gonna play songs of Black Pudding on this tour, even when Duke isn't around, but he hasn't yet, has he? I love Black Pudding, I like it more than Imitations, so I hope to hear some of it on the europe tour! Especially because Duke will be there for support. He also says there's gonna be a whole new band except for one of the Belgians... that must be Lyenn. As much as I like reading about the setlists and seeing videos from the recent USA dates, I can't help but to think of it as old news. Except for the three or four songs from Imitations, we've seen most of this acoustic sets before...Can't wait for the Euro part of the tour to start to see if there's more in store!

But these haven't been acoustic shows, they're electric, which does give a greater dimension to the music. Not the same as the strings I've seen mentioned for the Europe shows, but still, I saw Mark on the actually acoustic West Coast tour in 2011 and I caught a couple of shows last week, and they weren't the same. I also really like the lack of musical distraction from Mark's singing, he's mesmerizing.

Oh that's good to hear But I'm still hoping for some Black Pudding being added to the set... If there is some black pudding, I'm sure you will enjoy the meal (I'm not sure I will be understood, but with the way you turned your sentence and my understanding of English, I was thinking about food )

I have to say that was one of the best interviews with him that I've ever read! I love when he talks about non-music stuff, like basketball.

"I don't ask these [hardcore-fans] to come to my shows. I also don't ask them to be hardcore-fans." www.mpodia.nl/content/“iedereen-houdt-van-stones”Well we don't come to your shows for you either, buddy. We just come to hear One Fucking Way Street everytime again played live. One Fucking Way Street every single show over and over again. Without One Fucking Way Street the whole show wouldn't make sense.

Oh now I see what's going on here, he'd just made hardcore-fan synonym with asking-to-much. Aha, well I felt addressed to 'cause I guess I am a hardcore-fan (ulgh this makes me fucking limited sounding which is not the damn case but nevermind), but being a hardcore fan doesn't mean 'demanding machine'. I totally respect him as an artist and he has to do whatever the fuck he likes, the only thing I ask is a bit of a mutual respect 'cause HE CAN MAKE A LIVING BECAUSE OF US, so no remarks like 'I dont give a shit about my fans', sure he can make them but it just offends me. Ok maybe there is one thing that may fall into the 'asking-to-much' category which is, and ónly because there is a chance of meeting, wanting a hug and thats all.booyah peace out Fck, edit: not only can he make a living of what he loves doing because of us, he recieves the gift of appreciation for his music from us as well. This deserves nothing else but just a bit of respect.

He certainly is a charmer, isn't he?
If he's doing it for himself, I'm kinda surprised he doesn't get tired of doing essentially the same songs over and over again. It's funny how he seems to challenge himself with the collaborations and directions that he takes, but then doesn't really challenge himself at all in the live environment.

Probably a bunch of that lost in translation. And didn't get the Bruce Springsteen comments at all; can't accuse Bruce of just playing his greatest hits. The E Street band have to know every song Bruce has ever done + a bunch of others, and Springsteen never plays the same set twice. Have to admit that I don't have high expectations of artists (singers, actors, etc) as people; but then my favourite singers include Jim Morrison and Iggy Pop................

Can someone just ring Brian Eno and ask him to come out and play with Mark? They can call the album Music for Roughhousing.

yeah it sounds harsher in dutch than i think it would have sounded in english. either way, he's not saying he doesn't give a shit about the fans, merely that they (we) are not the main reason he's performing. fair enough.

So Mark isn't religious?? That surprises me 'cause his lyrics often mention god and stuff!

Not convinced that he's not religious, he may not be an Orthodox Church goer.

There's religious, and there's spiritual. Some people are both, but there are plenty of religious people with no spirituality and lots of spiritual people who aren't religious.
