I believe this was that private party he did for someone's birthday - there's links to pics of it somewhere. It was never listed on the tour schedule because it wasn't a public event. wrong!!! Wow, that was polite and humble... No songs from before 2001 in that set? Crazy. Maybe the band members didn't own any of Mark's first four albums, got into him after he got a Mercury nomination with Isobel (for the worst album he'd made in 20 years) or after he joined QOTSA... and therefore couldn't practice anything else because they don't know anything before Field Songs! :-) I'm a) joking (a little bit)... b) making social comment about this forum, and c) regretting using a letter followed by a closing bracket in this paragraph. This all looks very muddled. Bye!

yeah, sorry, I was just going off the top of my head and the name sounded familiar. But as I have very little time to look up everything, and way too much in my mind to remember everything, I am bound to be wrong plenty of times. Thanks for researching it.

I know, I couldn't remember where this conversation popped up either (the drool thread, who'da thunk). I even tried searching for it but proboard spat the dummy. Pah. All I know is that I would really like to hear it. xxx

Wow, Mark played a private birthday party? Maybe he wrote a special song for the occasion: "Another year gone, but do not weep, for you are one year closer to that peaceful rest we long for, as we drift off to sleep..."

Mark did do a private party in melbourne July 2010 (A special invite only affair for the 50th birthday party for one of the founders of Shock Records, Andrew McGee). I think someone posted the photos. Photos by CarbieWarbie

I've resisted this for a long time, but now I think I know where my tax return money is going this year...
Wonder who does the cover graphics?

Enjoy the show! (I know, I hate crappy venues, too, what we suffer through for our favorite artists, eh?)

Good looking venue, reasonable visability, crap sound esp vs Union Chapel or Barbican.

Hi. I have been an avid reader of this forum for years but have never felt compelled to post a message before. I arrived early for the shepherds bush gig tonight to buy some live CDs only to be told by security that they won't be selling any merch tonight. Gutted. Went to see the union chapel gig and the barbican one so was hoping to buy those particular CDs. I'm so upset but at least I got a great seat!

I too was disappointed by the lack of merchandise on sale at Shepherd's Bush, as I too got there early specificaly to purchase the Barbican (which I desperately wanted as a present for someone who I attended that with back in September) and Voxhall CDs and was a little surprised that no Lanegan/Campbell merchandise at all was being sold.
If anyone is able to pick up an additional Barbican or Voxhall CD for me at any of the upcoming European dates, I would be most grateful and can pay via Paypal immediately.

Public apology to all who pm'd me. I took £300 to Shepherd's Bush only to find no merchandise - "at the request of the band" was the reply when I asked. Whether Mark and Isobel didn't fancy another meet and greet I've no idea - seemed pretty daft to me. It was a pretty full house, so I guess they's have sold a lot - I was going to get at least 12cds.
The concert itself was pretty good. Band reasonably relaxed after a long time on the road and the sound was actually very good for the Empire (it tends to reverberate with heavy bass, but Isobel's songs are mainly played on the upright bass which is fine). Mark in fine voice (as always).

Yeah, I was really disappointed by the lack of merch. I can't understand that. We want to give you our money, Mark. Why won't you take it?
Grrr. I really want that Union Chapel cd without having to pay $34 for it to be shipped here.

Lets hope this CD is available very soon, just a ridiculous situation.
