It's been on the go for a while, so I wouldn't be surprised - Barrett & Duff told a friend of mine that they'd either just done or were about to do some recording for it around the time of Walking Papers' first UK tour (last November).

I doubt that he is messing with us. As an FYI, I ran into the guy who runs A Light In The Attic recordings (the company that pressed the Lanegan / Dalton 7 inch) in Seattle a few days ago. After a quick chat about Lanegan, he mentioned that they are the company that is going to press a 2 cd or 3 LP vinyl box set of Lanegan rarities and whatnot. What I got from the conversation is that this is supposed to hit the shelves in November. Not sure if these are the same things, but that is what the man said...so no matter what, there will be something new this year.

From Light in The Attic Website....could the "gorgeous anthologies" be Lanegan? I'd bet on it...
We’d like to announce Part II of the 2013 Light In The Attic Subscription Package… There are so many good things on tap for the second half of 2013 that we’ve decided to change it up a bit. Your Part II subscription will exclusively feature titles released on Light In The Attic rather than a mix of our imprint labels. We’re incredibly proud of what we have in store for the second half of 2013, as it’s certainly some of the finest releases in our 11-year history. Below is a sneak peak at what we’ve got coming up. In addition to the below, your subscription will also include two gorgeous anthologies, each Double-CDs / Triple-LPs packages. It’s too early to spill the beans on those but we promise you’ll be happy campers. Without further adieu:

do you have to subscribe to get the anthologies, or are they a bonus? I can't imagine they aren't planning to sell any copies outside of subscribing on a related note last month I signed into the sno isle libraries free mp3 site and searched lanegan, the only hit? same old man from light in the attic. weirdest place I've scored a lanegan song as far as the crooner album goes, he could always be adding it to the merch table ... I hope the tour in October finally sees Mark back in the Seattle city limits been since 2011.. he hates us here now

No subscription necessary - the only difference will be that if you plump for the vinyl package ($185 in the US, $120 for the CD edition), you'll get an exclusive colour variant where one is available.

I have a silly question : what do you mean by "crooner" album exactly ? ...sounds interesting btw...

The $185/$120 is for an 8-record subscription for the 2nd half of this year, details plus a look at the ones that have been announced here, 8 vinyl albums (in multiples of 1, 2 or 3 depending on release) will cost more to produce and ship than the same on fewer CDs (a 3xLP release would be 2xCD).

This is all really interesting, but I hate the idea that you have to subscribe to get the colored vinyl. I also am not fond of them not telling you what the two anthologies will be.
Does anyone know if you can sign up halfway through? Because I really only want the Lanegan, not a huge fan of PIL, Roky Ericson, or any of the other confirmed releases.
I guess I could wait for confirmation that it is indeed a Lanegan anthology, and sell the rest on ebay, but that's such a hassle. I'd rather just get the Lanegan and be done with it.

I'm assuming this is kind of like his second "covers" album. This is pretty exciting news to me, I love the classic crooners and could totally see Mark making an album like this.

On the Anthology front, it's not as if you have to subscribe, standard coloured versions will be available as normal. Subscription services are pretty common for these sorts of small labels (Death Waltz is another) as these pre-paid ones help with getting them made in the first place, so it's not that unfair for those fans who pitch in first to share the costs to get something a little special by return. Incidentally, due to the costs of shipping ($18+ per record), LITA cannot extend this outside North America, so Europe doesn't get something nice for a change

Because if that's the case, then I'll probably want to grab both! I don't mind pitching in first, it's just that I only want to pitch in for Mark's record...

Yup - none of the LITA subscription is an exclusive release, just an exclusive version of each one.

I hope the tour in October finally sees Mark back in the Seattle city limits been since 2011.. he hates us here now I thought he was just avoiding you? Yeah I thought it was kind of weird that after signing for EVERYONE at Doug Fir Lounge, that I finally get to chat him up and he's like "I know you." and I'm like real sheepish "yeah I got to a lot of your shows." and then he looks me right in the eys and says "no, I KNOW you." As in personally-ish, as I was in the past a friend of his sister's. Makes a guy feel pretty good, that even after 10 years+ and Mark having rehabbed drugs again and almost died, that he would still remember me on sight. Anyway, afterwards he hasn't played within 300 miles of Seattle lol

Hehe it's true though, he rather plays in front of a bunch of people he doesn't know than in front of people he does know. Makes total sense to me

Ah cool, Thanks for the link.
Though he should have called the album Mr. Sophistication.
