This makes me feel old. Does Screaming Trees count?
First Mark's song you've heard : Transfiguration
First Mark's album you bought : Even if and Especially When
First gig you went : Screaming Trees, Bogey's, Albany NY, April(?) 1991 (w/Dan Peters on drums!)Was standing at the bar and flagged him down as he passed after soundcheck but Mark wouldn't shake my hand or speak to me. Just looked at my palm, looked at my face and kept right on walking. Never felt like such a dork before. Did the exact smae thing ten years later when I saw the Trees a the Viper Room. I was in line for the mens room with Duff McKagan and Mark, so I started shooting the breeze. Duff was real nice. Mark not so much. Prolly not the best place to strike up a conversation anyway.
The year you became a fan : 1990
Favorite song so far : Bell Black Ocean
Favorite album so far : One of the Live Acoustic releases

First Mark's song you've heard : No idea, it was probably something off Buzz Factory, I didn't really pay attention until Uncle Anesthesia and "Bed of Roses" single
First Mark's album you bought : Sweet Oblivion
First gig you went : Screaming Trees, 1997, Seattle, Showbox
The year you became a fan : 1991
Favorite song so far : There is just no answering this, I could list my favorite 15 or 20, think about it, come back and add 10 more
Favorite album so far : Also really difficult - Sweet Oblivion is about a hair's breadth more essential than Dust, I'd require Bubblegum, Field Songs, Whiskey For the Holy Ghost, the Union Chapel live cd and the Aaurhus Denmark live cd are all necessary, as is Saturnalia, Broken, I can go on.

First Mark's song you've heard : Dollar Bill or Nearly Lost You on the Singles soundtrack CD.
First Mark's album you bought : Sweet Oblivion
First gig you went : Finally saw him with Soulsavers at T in the Park, then later with QOTSA for Song For The Dead. Don't know why I didn't see him live earlier.
The year you became a fan : Around the time of Sweet Oblivion (1991?)
Favorite song so far : Dollar Bill
Favorite album so far : Field Songs - it was an album I bought at the time of release that I just didn't get at the time. I never listened to it properly until after the acoustic tours a few years ago when he played a lot of it.

First Mark song you've heard: Probably Nearly Lost You from the singles OST or the songs from the Mad Season album. Though in neither case did I really know who the singer was. The first song that really made me aware of him was Revival which was put on a mix tape a buddy gave me. I looked up the band and singer and found out it was the Nearly Lost You guy.
First Mark album you bought: unaware: singles OST, aware: soulsavers it's it how far.... Solo: don't remember
First gig you went: Soulsavers NYC 2007. First solo gig was in Hannover Germany last year
The year you became a fan: 2007

First Mark's song you've heard : The river rise (Hype! movie, but did not pay that much attention, still was a teenager that just wanted good rock music)
First Mark's album you bought : Trees' "Dust" in '97. 'The winding sheet' in 2001, that led to musical adoration until this day, bought 'Field songs' the day after...
First gig you went : Qotsa 2002 in Berlin, Solo 2004 in Berlin
The year you became a fan : Trees '97, Solo after the first line of 'Mockingbirds' 2001
Favorite song so far : yeah, sure, next question
Favorite album so far : Hard to answer, but as much as I love his own songwriting I also always admired his unerring choices of covers, which are nearly all gems in my eyes/ears, especially when he makes them 'his' songs. So 'I'll take care of you' has to be mentioned here for my taste as well. Along with 'Scrabs at midnight', 'Weird chill' and I don't know, hard to answer...

First song: When your number isn't up - Bubblegum was in many best of lists of 2004 and I borrowed the library copy and loaded onto my iPod. The whole album (or at least first ten songs or so) grew on me and I was hooked. First album: Bubblegum - liked it so much, I bought a copy of it and then HCTWC First gig: with Isobel, Shepherds Bush. Great because the first album was largely padded out with songs from I'll Take Care Of You Fan: 2004/2005 as above Favorite song: tough one, I'll go for Wish You Well (or Like Little Willie John) Favorite album: still Bubblegum

The year you became a fan : A fan is someone who digs out and check the news - then i am not a fan, Mark is simply my favorite so far with Mike Patton exaequo , just this I believe you are confusing "fan" and "fanatic". I think if you are buying Mark's albums, seeing him live, and posting on his message board, it is safe to call yourself a "fan". I am definitely not digging around for Mark info...that's what this awesome site is for.

At my home, there was no MTV, just shitty radios... My father listens to some rock bands, but older and well known ones, such as the Beatles and Pink Floyd. But apart from his CDs and vinyls, I don't remember having heard a lot of "good" music (in my opinion) when I was a child. That was the time for Eurodance, boys bands, etc. 90's are not so perfect after all

Another oldie here. Not so sure about the "wise" part, though First Mark's song you've heard : Nearly lost you First Mark's album you bought : Sweet Oblivion First gig you went : 1993 in Zurich when the Screaming Trees were touring with Alice in Chains. And AIC were so, so bad that night I spend my money on a Trees shirt instead of AIC. Still got the shirt The year you became a fan : 2004 Favorite song so far : Sweet Oblivion and Low Favorite album so far : Bubblegum

First Mark's song you've heard : ST Sweet Oblivion on cassette in '93. Wow.
First Mark's album you bought : Field Songs (still his best for me!)
First gig you went : November 2001 in Dublin, Whelan's. Mark's birthday party was celebrated upstairs in the band room and everyone was partying quite hard (except Mark who was soberly answering questions from fans). Mike Johnson asked me for any grass - sadly we'd smoked the last of it during the gig.
The year you became a fan : 1993
Favorite song so far : No Easy Action
Favorite album so far : Field Songs
