From what I remember, that's not the only duet he's doing on there.

Yeah, he features on track six as well: "Constant Limbo (Constant Rain)" - Crippled Black Phoenix and Cypress Grove (feat. Mark Lanegan & Bertrand Cantat).

I'd heard from a little birdy of another thing that I assumed was going to be on this. Hmm, wonder where that's going to turn up then? Mixed feelings about this as a whole because of the whole "Bertrand Cantat only served 3 years in prison for beating a woman to death", but that's probably just me.

Hi first post from me on the forum! I was just listening to KEXP and the DJ said that she was talking to someone at the weekend who had heard a song from Mark's new album, which will be out this year some time - allegedly. I think I remember reading an interview where he said he would be recording for a new album early 2014 but if he gets it out before the end of the year that would be excellent.

In the "forthcoming record of covers" thread I hoped for a Noir Désir cover done by Mark, so now listening Mark and Bertrand together will make me fucking happy! Please, give a chance to the new Bertrand's project with Pascal Humbert called Détroit: I think many OW members will love it.

Ooooohh Mark and Bertrand together, like pin964 I couldn't be happier. I understand that people can have problems with the tragedy, but we're talking about music here. Détroit is a very cool project, and I will be seeing them live twice this year.

Here's a list of more accurate terms than "the tragedy": Horrendous act of violence. Fatal beating. Killing. Murder. Unforgivably despicable homicidal action. Those all seem more accurate. Yes, we're talking about music here - but art is inextricably linked to the people who create it.

Well, the two of them were drunk and stoned, I think there are far more horrendous acts of violence in the world. Some women are beaten everyday by their husband and have no money or family to help them get out of that life. But again, I understand if some people don't want to listen to Bertrand anymore.

Trying to make some sort of distinction between the creator and the created is difficult, to say the least. I don't know anything about who Bertrand Cantat is, or the details and context of what happened, but usually there is a context that can help, to a certain degree, explain and create some sort of understanding of how a situation, where this was the sad outcome, could come to be. It's not an excuse, it is in no way absolving anyone of any guilt. Well, that's my two cents. They really didn't bring anything new to the table...
On another note - ANDREA SCHROEDER IS ONE THE COMP! She amazing.

I'm with M2. Not a big fan of this. I listened to Noir Desir well before Cantat murdered his wife (the mother of his children). And the term murder is not inapt: he is a convicted murder who bludgeoned his wife to death after she received text messages from her previous husband.
He is most assuredly a talented musician, and I'm usually a believer in opportunities for redemption, but it's hard to square the brutality of his actions and the light sentence with any desire to hear new music from the guy. Not saying anyone else should do the same or has to have the same feelings that I do, but I'll be skipping this one.

His wife, and mother of his children, hung herself supposedly because of Cantat So yeah ... On the JLP 3, I'm real happy to see Ruby Throat aka Katie Jane Garside included!

I just found this on the above facebook page. Mark sadly is reduced to backing vocals on this one. Apparently the release date is May 2 now.

This is just so good, & I'd go as far as saying it's Mark's best offering yet on the JLP Sessions Project. Beautiful.
