Interesting that this musical style (power pop??) is not what I would call either J's or Mark's normal forte. I don't follow J much other than Dino Jr so maybe I am wrong there but on the outside it would seem to be that way.
First two songs are pretty catchy.

I have NEVER understood why people consider J. Mascis some grunge guitar legend, the guy has always bored me to tears.......IMO this is another example of why he is just so god damn boring.

ok well 12:05 minutes of whacking off, I stand corrected...... Well if you don't enjoy his rhythm/lead combos in Dinosaur Jr or his "whacking off" there's no hope for you. Seems like you were pretty much closed to the possibility anway...

Mark was in J Mascis debt or something? 'Cause you wouldn't do this even for a friend. he really should start beginning to work on his nosaying... He's been delaying it for ages hahaha

Seems like you were pretty much closed to the possibility anway... haha, cut me some slack I did listen to the whole song at least which is more then I can say for his acoustic gig at sub pop, I believe we left after about 8 minutes to go watch fat greg dulli waddle out of his motorhome 30 minutes late like a "real rock star" somehow that was slightly more entertaining, but just barely....

I have NEVER understood why people consider J. Mascis some grunge guitar legend Is it because he is utterly unique in his approach to the instrument? Y'know, the way no one else has played guitar like him before or since in the history of rock music? Or maybe the fact that, as an artistic statement, a quiet and softly spoken guy not being afraid to play audacious but off-kilter solos at a time when alternative music wasn't really about that = pretty significant. The fact that his unique gift is also combined with a unique, instantly recognisable voice, multi-instrumental skills and undoubted songwriting ability that has been evidenced over more than quarter of a century? I dunno. Just a guess. I suppose the word 'unique' is what makes someone recognised on an international stage. Maybe if a hundred people had come along and done the same thing, no one would care. I thought the first Sweet Apple song with ML was a lot of fun.
