I have just released an album of demos from 1987 thru 2007. There are not demos of Screaming Trees songs. These are all unheard songs that we never used that have been laying around for many years. There are 47 songs so there's a ton of material to digest but it only costs about ten bucks. It's available as a download on iTunes, Amazon, Bandcamp and other digital stores now. (no cd or vinyl unless I get rich) Two more things coming out this year. I will be releasing my 2010 Micrdot Gnome album under my own name with extra tracks. It'l be called Gary Lee Conner-The Microdot Gnome This fall I will have a brand new album entitled Ether Trippers to be release on Van Conner's Strange Earth label. If all goes as planned that will be available on vinyl. Be Seeing You, GLC
Gary Lee Conner-Under the Weeping Willow Tree (a lifetime of demos) get it at iTunes
Gary Lee Conner-Under the Weeping Willow Tree (a lifetime of demos) get it at Bandcamp

I told you all that Gary Lee would indeed be our guy. The one who released lost in time Trees/Moonbus material. Yes the disclaimer says they are NOT old trees songs. But guess what, they ARE the framework to many songs that came out and didn't come out. Many of his old material were songs that were used on albums like Invisible lantern, Even If, Clairvoyance, etc. Many others have similar song strcutures to other things we've known from this band before. I myself already have many of these demos in other forms. The song titles are different, but many of the songs you will eerily recognize if you know the Trees/Lee as I do... I told you that he is the one who is obsessed, as I am, and intrigued by velvetone/sst/sub pop/k era material that other band members (cough cough Van) don't like, or believe in, nor ever want to come out. When van came on here misleading everyone and telling all of you to take heart and believe that HE wanted those old songs/demos to come out, I told all of you he was full of it! This record by Lee (I'll call it a record because it might as well be, it's gold) is as close to getting all those elusive demos/songs that Mr. Doak was peddling illegally before as you might ever get. If you truly love the trees, buy this from Lee. Support him and the band as we knew it. The songs on here are amazing! Also support the Moonbus and try and find some of his old Moonbus and Purple Outside recordings or those under the Gary Lee Conner name... Patrick Conner has some amazing cd's out there as well... I got them all on tape and cd. But they are all very representative of Lee and the Trees' vision. At least in the SST/Velvetone years. And in my mind, those were the best years of the Trees' existence anyway. I'm sure if Lee were here, he'd very much get a kick out of my homage to him and his genius. Hell my YOUTUBE channel is one big homage to him as well By the way, if you do pop back on here again Lee, do us all a favor and please make this collection available to us on REGULAR CD"S. I'm not good with computers or mp3's. I prefer to play everything the way it was meant to be played. Hard copies on real cd's to stick into my 90's era cd boombox hooked up to some really amazing monitor speakers!

Hey guys. Apologies for digging up an old thread, but just wanted to post an update on this release. (Hope it's cool to post this here!) I run a DIY cassette label called Solid 7 Records, based in the UK. Earlier this year I approached Lee with the idea of releasing this album on cassette. I figured the format would be well suited to his collection of demos, some of which were probably recorded on tape in the first place. Anyway, long story short... He thought it was a cool idea and we released it in October! It's a double cassette in a large case, hand numbered (50 copies), and also comes with a 'GLC' design guitar pick. Available from www.solid7records.co.ukI know tapes aren't everyone's cup of tea! Each release is a labor of love, and I'm having a lot of fun getting to work with some of my favorite artists! :-)

Hi Dr. Strog, I used to love tapes! But all my tape players became casualties of the past I have NO way of playing anything of music besides cd's now. No lp and no tape players But is there any chance you might press these songs on cd's? I may buy this in tape form just as a collector's item but it's a shame I won't ever be able to use them... These songs are best heard on cd's because they have the biggest dynamic range anyway. Best sound to my ears, even though others might disagree.

Hey Sean. I'm just doing tapes at the moment, not particularly interested in CDs. :-)
You could download the FLAC files from Lee's bandcamp and burn them onto CD?

What a coincidence. 99.9% of the world's population isn't particularly interested in cassette tapes!

Apologies guys. I regret posting about the tapes here. A certain forum member is giving me a really hard time via email, and threatening to post all sorts of things about me on here. I'm actually shaking writing this.
I'm just a guy, with a hobby, and wanted to do something cool for one of my music hero's.
The person in question ordered the tapes, and is now demanding that I send him CD copies along with the tapes. I politely explained that CD's aren't my business, and now apparently I am 'heartless' and am 'only after making money on GLC and his fans'.
Sorry to do this in public guys n girls.

People are strange, that's for sure.
Hope the experience with one person doesn't sour the whole place for you - it's a good crowd here and one that's appreciative of all efforts to keep this sort of music alive. keep up the good work!

So the way I understand this...drstroganoff asked Gary Lee if he could produce and sell cassettes, and Gary Lee liked the idea and agreed. And drstroganoff is now doing exactly what he was given permission to do. I don't see anything on here that would indicate that it's fine for drstroganoff to also make copies of all the music on CDs and sell them or give them away; especially since Gary Lee himself has posted in the first message on this thread that he is selling the songs through download. One would assume that should you purchase them from Gary Lee, you are free to burn them onto a CD yourself.
Basically anyone harassing anyone on this forum is wrong and needs to be stopped. But if someone is actually harassing someone else by asking them to steal from an artist for their benefit, they need to be bounced. Please don't let there be any ridiculous attempts at black mail on this forum. Please.

Horrified to see the posts from the chap from Solid7 - I ordered a copy of this on the format he was selling it on, mostly because I wanted a physical copy of something cool that only has 50 official physical copies in the world.
We chatted about the Trees. This guy loves the music that people here love, he does this because he loves the artists. I can't imagine there's a great amount of money to be made in doing this. It's a labour of love.
If someone can't download the tracks (which are available online) and put them on a CD-R, then they're fairly deranged at point 1.
If someone downloaded an album from iTunes and then tried to fuck Apple over for not giving them a CD with it, it would be an absolute joke, which is exactly what this situation is.
drstrog- I wouldn't hesitate to name and shame the culprit to admins here - they'll very quickly be able to ban their IP address and probably point others towards them.
Much love and many thanks for doing/making/creating something good. You're one of the good guys.

Thanks all. As far as I'm concerned, my correspondence with the guy via email is finished. So hopefully this will now just go away.
