Garwood has signed to Heavenly Records and has recorded a new album at Hommes studio with Alain and Mark at the helm. The teaser track I must say is very good and reminds me of the Black Pudding stuff. There is a YouTube video link on the page so you can listen. www.folkradio.co.uk/2014/11/duke-garwood-heavy-love/What are your thoughts?

It's certainly one I'm looking forward to hearing in full - hopefully having two people producing his stuff here won't have too much of an effect on his output other than to channel his really weird stuff towards something slightly less weird but I'm sure he'll head off in his own direction anyway

I'm very intrigued. It sounds like exactly what I want to be hearing in dreary February.

Any US vinyl preorders anywhere? Couldn't find one but it's early...gotta hope an American label like Vagrant will pick it up for us. If not, I'll just bite the bullet and order the import.

does mark sing on any songs? If he does, he's well hidden - Savages' Jehnny Beth pops up on one though (Duke guested on their debut album). EDIT: and it's proving to be magical to listen to, but a bugger to write about

"I'd spent ridiculous amounts of money mixing it and it just wasn't happening. I played it to Mark and he said, 'Sorry dude, it sounds like shit. I don't even know why you're playing it to me.' I was like, 'Sorry, what can I say?' He said, 'Give it to me and Al and we'll mix it.'" thequietus.com/articles/17104-duke-garwood-interview

Heavy Love has got to be one of the most hypnotic songs I've heard in a long time. Can't wait for the new album.

For those interested, this month's Mojo has a cover cd recreating Physical Graffiti - Duke does a great (and surprisingly jaunty) version of Night Flight, even if the thing I love about the original (Bonzo's "I hate you, bloody drumkit" appearance at the start) isn't there.

This album is very good. You should all get it. Absolutely. And for those of you who listen to vinyl, an outstanding pressing, dead quiet, superb sonics etc...Just an A+ record in every way. Congrats and thanks to Duke and the various members of the engineering team...job well done.

There is also an interview in the magazine with Duke, plus a short interview with Mark where he talks about working with Duke and doing anything to get a credit on the record! I picked up this album on Saturday and I like it on first listen. Only regret is that Duke didn't play the Glasgow gig I went to earlier in the MLB tour.

Saw Duke play in Leeds on Tuesday night. Fantastic. Just him and a (very good) drummer, Paul May. He's doing a few more UK dates in the next couple of weeks so, if you get the chance, I would urge you to go and see him.
I managed to have a quick chat with Duke after the gig. Nice guy. He confirmed that he and Mark will do another record together - but something different to Black Pudding......
